Bad bad officiating last night on the Gilmore PI and the safety. I thought they were going to get jobbed on the kick recovery for a bit too.
I think if there's a way to oust Hackett without Marrone going to pieces, you do it. Last in the league in red zone touchdowns and I'm sure not amazing in efficiency. In the Chiefs game they had four cracks from about 25 yards out and over 2 minutes and they tried four times on endzone or 15+ yard passes. And last night, they played it way too cautious on the second drive where we had a chance to go up 10-3.
Even with Spiller and Jackson, the team isn't looking very dynamic on offense. - Morris
Morrone and Hackett are not the ones throwing the football.. We have two back up quarterbacks and no starter. Its as simple as that |

No, they aren't. Hackett needs to be the first to go, but Marrone is proving to be a wimp. Punting on 4th and 6 on the opponent's 43 down by 10 with 9 minutes to go is simply sackless football, plain and simple. - buffalofan19
Marone also needs to go. We hadn't made playoffs in 13 years when he took that job and still thought it was a good idea to bring his sub-par OC buddy from college along with him who we all knew wasn't going to cut it. It just goes to show that he, like all his predecessors don't take the job seriously because its the Bills. Instead he treats it like a pet project where as long as he can hang on for 3-4 years he will make millions, then when he gets canned will likely get an shot as a coordinator for 3-4 more years before people realize he blows. He then will have a great football resume and in some capacity to be hired in college or high school and will never make less than 100k a year in his life and will have made millions doing it.
Rant over. |

Hasn't Marrone already been an NFL coordinator? Or was he just an O-line coach? |

Having a starting QB that can convert in the red zone would make marrone and hackett look alot better. - MCGUIZZY
Knowing when you are in a four down situation and play calling accordingly would make the biggest difference. They haven't done it once this year. |

Maybe we wouldnt be in those type of situations if we had a starting caliber Quarterback |

It's like they only make that decision on 3rd or 4th down. Whereas if you know you're in four-down territory on 1st down, you can at least provide yourself with a 3rd/4th and 5 instead of 10. |

Would the bills in your opinion improve with Orton and a better OC? Or is it so much about our QB situation to you that it wouldn't matter who we had? |

Orton has been as erratic as Manuel has. The difference is that he has a shorter memory than Manuel has as well, and is still willing to make certain throws, which in turn, allows him to make more plays at times. I would think just about any quarterback will look better behind a better line. What I'm not sure of, is if it would be good enough. |

This is true, if the Bills have a good QB they win the last 2 games. Good coaches who are respected have control over their drafting situations, lame coaches do not. Marone allowed himself to be in a situation where in his second season, his starting QB was picked up off the couch at labor day and he has no first round pick next year. Now EJ hasn't played and we have no idea if he would have improved. Next season is throw away season #16 in a row. If he's lucky he'll land a QB in 2016 who most likely will suck his first year anyways, then Marrone gets canned. There it is, 4 years of pissing into the wind and several millions made by Doug. Not a bad life I guess. |

Good post. I think people were really ready to buy into the Orton mythos when he stepped in but these past 2-3 games are probably closer to what he's all about than the first 2-3.
Still, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated on our early-down playcalling. I think the fact that we actually have been doing okay on 3rd down pure passing situations despite the fact that we often dig ourselves pretty big holes points to the fact that as much as Orton isn't starter calibre, there's a real organizational need to do better by our offense and set them up for success.
Of course, run game could be improved by a better line too. |

I agree that the play calling has not been good. But I still believe that the quarterback situation is our biggest issue. |

fair enough. It's funny because ironically in my time as an Oilers fan I've been arguing how much more important getting a solid Dman was than firing Eakins. So deep down, I probably agree with you. |

Depending on the price, I'm not opposed to it. Lots of Oil fans hate him and he's overpaid, but he'd be in many facets our best dman. |

Zadorov, Risto and Girgensons all look like great building blocks for the future as they all can play in any scenario and we don't cringe watching.
If they can flip Hodgson, Myers, Stewart, Foligno, and Stafford into something worth having on the team, that would really aid the "best" current farm team as well as the 3 first rounders coming up. The team will have an average age of 22 in like 2 years and should all be worth watching (even in a loss).
Last bad watching year Buffalo, now we just need to tough it out. Next year we might not be good (see Crosby's Penguins during his first year) but they will be worth watching at the very least. |

I try to be positive about things, from an offense standpoint the first period was great, that's what we need every night and it needs to extend to the entire game. Defense was sloppy as usual so I can't completely blame enroth. |

It does. But we all knew Marrone was backed into a corner with EJ as his QB and the Bills trading away nexy years first. I ranted about it in late summer and people told me I should "see how it plays out first". So far I'm dead on. Marrone knew what he got himself into and if he had a rogue GM putting him in this bad situation, he should have spoke up. Instead "EJ was his guy". Translation: My aforementioned post, Marrone is just trying to squeak as many years and as many $$$ as he can before he gets canned without rocking the boat. |

I agree that we need a real QB. But there aren't any sitting around that we could get right now. We have to play the hand we are dealt. Marrone is too entrenched in the old school. |
