I would have said the same about Ghost before he came up, too. Gus, Akeson, Coots/Read usage... can you trust this guy to prioritize development and long term goals right now? - Tomahawk
I knew that Gostisbehere was going to play a limited role, based on the Gus/Akeson usage. But Laughton is a physical, gritty player. Chief loves that
And I won't complain if they fire Berube |

Barring a miracle run, Berube is gone at the end of the season. Unless they completely implode though, I doubt he gets canned before then |

You gotta think that Hexy wants to bring in his own guy at some point. I have no idea who he may be targeting, other than possibly Babcock at the end of the season.

Only a mile from home, but I was sitting in with the band so I couldnt get myself comfortably numb to ease the Flyboys induced pain.
Plus lots of law enforcement outside due to some issues at a party in the rental auditorium at the same establishment. I heard the guest of honor hit a cop (not with her car) |

It would just throw another stick in the bicycle wheel's spokes to have another coach come in mid-season. |

Could be Guy Boucher, Mark Morris...There's options out there. |

I dont think the team has an identity or style and in some instances a leader. Giroux is a great player but someone else should be wearing the C. Until you figure out what kind of team you are going to be I dont think you can target a coach. This lineup is really a patchwork quilt of transition and cap issues.

I think Hextall's just evaluating the 'talent' at this point (in between all of the involuntary head shakes and shudders). I have to believe that he's got a long-term plan.

I'm not disagreeing. But they might end up being a bad team that makes the playoffs.
They're 2 points out of 3rd, with a game in hand. The East, and the Metro in particular, is a mess of teams that are going to be close all season long.
I stand by my pre-season thoughts. They could finish anywhere from 2nd-7th and I wouldn't bat an eye - Jsaquella

IMO, don't want any of the kids near Berube right now. Let them get their tough love, and tons of minutes, from Murray. Don't think Ghost gained anything from his call up at all. - Tomahawk
They start at 1 minute per night and earn every minute after that. Every mistake will be a reduction in minutes. If they don't like it they can leave. Thats our motto. |

Hexy wants to build them to resemble the Kings. Chief is a student of the Randy Carlyle school of 'just compete harder'. The players are content playing like the Oilers -- running around like a kindergarten class high on pixie sticks. |

I agree
Its a shame that they are actually making people pay for tickets parking and concessions while they figure out their mess. They out the throw the doors open and kiss the feet of anyone who goes in.
This year I am only going to 2 games, one next Thursday with one of my customer/friends, he has season tix on the lower level. Its a once yearly thing, I buy the business dinner there, he supplies the tix. The other one will be a group outing from a professional society to a game mid January.
I posed the question before about people who are STH and how they feel about funding the continued insanity.
If they are going to change the coach this is really a long, long term rebuild.
I will be on social security (not that long but enough years down the road)before they are seriously Cup competitive.
I think all Flyers fans should not have to have to wait like that poor rangers fan who held up the sign when they won the cup in 1994 "Now I can die in peace" or something like that.

You speak the truth and my other post on the rebuild length makes this all the more painful. I think I will stick with the affiliate minor league teams, the pain is less costly $$$ and they actually compete harder.

Vinny is a complete disaster. He looked horrible on the power play. Nearly falling and tripping himself several times. Nearly all of his shots getting blocked. An abomination - Just5
Noooo are you kidding me?! He was supposed to be the #2 center to giroux! And we got him for market value! C'mon it's just one game, he'll pick it up and carry us to the promised land! |

Missed the game so I just got to see the highlights.. doesn't seem to me that Ray had a very good game at all. There were a few goals I think he could have stopped or controlled the rebound better. Prob not the only reason we lost but doesn't look like his best effort. |

Oh yah..Im still on the Flyers Hockeybuzz board..
The team is a disaster..
Giroux shouldnt be the captain.
Fire Berube
OMG!!! they played Rinaldo over Akegretzky..Blurgh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The team isn't a disaster..They are what they are which is a 500 team right now. They were a disaster at the start of last season and they played great over the remaining 75% of the season. Did anyone really think they were going to seriously compete for the cup this season?
Agreed..When has Giroux showed any leadership qualities right? Proven playoff performer, check. Lead team to playoffs after horrible start last season, check. One of the best , most driven players in the league over the past 4-5 seasons, check.. Yup, that is the problem..
I see nothing to be gained by removing Chief 16 games into the season. Hire the savior, I mean someone else off season and that makes sense.
For the love of hobbits I do not understand the love for Akeson on this board and the hate for Rinaldo. At least Rinaldo hits, doesn't take shifts off, will try and do anything to change the course of a game.
The team has black holes in multiple players..May god strike me down but Im going to include the Golden Child in that list at times. It's great Read scored last night but they simply are not getting enough from Couturier, Read, VL, Simmonds, PEB , everyone not named Giroux, Voracek, B Schenn and MDZ right now.
Seriously..Team NEgative on this site should just stop watching the Flyers this season |

The guy goes Klingon cloak mode for long stretches and has done so in the past two playoff series. Not saying he sucks just that he's not above criticism because as captain this team has won exactly one playoff series in 3 years with him as captain. He's not completely to blame by any means but he shoulders some of the blame
