Tranquilizer blow gun aimed at Berube. - flyer_nutter
With the way Akeson has been playing, doubt the next coach would give him more ice time. So what's a proper shot?

Sadly it would just bounce off the scar tissue, hit Voracek causing him to go into anaphylactic shock. He would then fall on Giroux causing both of G's knees to blow out. Also the shockwave impact from both players simultaneously hitting the ice would likely cause CC to spontaneously combust |

It's like you're Berube, and MJL's question is Akeson. You're just not giving him a proper shot. |

If you mean trying to have a conversation on a discussion forum, then yea, that's what I'm trying to do. I don't know what you would consider a proper shot.
Things are great, hope they are with you as well.

I like to think of it as pulling out before anything unwanted happens. |

I think he's being used more as foreplay. Going by his ice time anyway.
The kid hasn't even cracked 2nd base. |

He is prone to mistakes that really kill the mood of the game. |

Its time to Waive or just trade Akeson.
The kid isn't going to get a proper shot under the current circus leader. He's worked hard enough to at least earn a real look at the NHL, for the sake of his career.
Let another team give him that chance. Just play Jones until Raffl is back. (frank) it. - flyer_nutter
Even when Richards, Carter, Giroux and countless other young players were getting ice time on the 4th line, you could still tell by their effort and play that they would not be there long no matter who was on the line with them. I just don't see that from Akeson at all.
If he was any good at all he would be schooling the 4th liners sent out there against him but he doesn't. He has great hands, but he has AHL speed, and ECHL defensive ability. He is a one dimensional player who doesn't show any interest in wanting to change that.
It doesn't matter who you are playing with, that shouldn't effect how you back check, or win puck battles along the wall, or make smart passes or any number of other things in a game that have nothing to do with who are your line mates.
Bottom line is he hasnt earned anything. And doesn't have the leeway of a vet who has done it, or pedigree of a top draft pick.
It is what it is. He is what he is.

And there's a poop load of young hockey players that would love to get the opportunity that Akeson has been given.
Raffl and Bellemare played on the 4th line. Easy to see the ability they have when they played on the 4th line. |

Im getting kind of over it, but it isn't a good sign for me to see now Guss and Akeson handled poorly when this team is on a rebuild path essentially. A lot of questionable decisions with bSchenn\s juggling, and Couturier constantly having the hardest defensive match-ups.
Not a fan of Craig's method to developing or getting the most out of these guys. Akeson is probably a piece of poop, but we don't know just how bad of one he is. We know damn well that LeCavalier, Umberger, Rinaldo and VDV are turds that you cant polish. I'd rather give a chance to an unknown, than those guys. Ohh well.

Is there a possibility that Gustafsson and Akeson just aren't good enough. Any responsibility on them for not making it? If Akeson doesn't.

I hear what you are saying about Gus, but then I read about what Bill says when he mentions other scouts and coaches around the league and what they thought of Gus. At least in Gus' case he seemed to be trying as hard as he could and just wasn't good enough.

You know, I love Scott Hartnell.
There is no debate that during his time as a Flyer he was part of some really great lines over the seasons.
He has a knack for it and looks like he is on another really good line in Columbus with Boone Jenner and Nick Foligno. Those two seemed to be two of the Jackets best forwards after Ryan Johansen. They seem to be pretty underrated as players. All Hartnell had to do was get to the net. I actually think he is getting carried a bit by those two guys, but I also give him some credit. - Marc D
The only flaw within Hartnell's game that I saw was, he wasn't chippy enough. He was too friendly with the guys. Outside of that, I felt like he was playing his game and could have easily been placed on the scoring sheet a couple of times. |
