I totally agree.

My point was this: It's easy to say "they screwed up" and even point to all the great draft positions they've had. It's a lot harder to pinpoint what they should have done differently in a way that was plausible given the info at the time.

- Morris

i don't think they screwed up, i think they have sh*t management (frank)ing everything up by not putting the players in a good position to win consistently

The Oilers let Tambellini run the team into the ground for too long. MacT is a much better GM and all we can do now is fantasize about landing Shea Weber for nothing and wait for our prospects to develop.

Was Alex elder not signed by the Canucks to a six year deal and than shopped before his no trade kicked in ? Or was this just what 90% of the Canucks regulars on carols blogs wanted ?

Benning likes him, I'm OK with him getting moved.

That other Oilers fan was saying they would get demolished, he was who I was pointing that out to.

I would like to see the Oilers play in the East, we would be able to match guns with the offensive teams and wouldn't get run into the ground by all these bully clubs.

- Dangles13

without the least bit of homer involved, I think the oilers are battling for a playoff spot in the east, probably missing by abit in the end. 7-11.

and without any additions to our defence, id say anything above 12th in the west is a miracle.

Realistically though we should be feasting on all 15 of the weak Western teams that are basically free points.

almost every trade proposal ive seen to the oilers weakens us right now and replaces the value we lose in an impact player through picks and prospects.

this is not what we want nor need right now.

What do you think would be a fair return for Eberle? Just curious. No hidden agenda here.

Where are Dallas, Columbus and Colorado right now?!

23rd, 26th, 29th. Right there with the Oil despite those superior players apparently.

Well they all made the playoffs last year, so we get a get out of jail free card this season

Montreal has better center depth than us, their wingers aren't super but definitely serviceable. But their defense is pretty good with Subban, Markov, Emelin, Gonchar/Gilbert rounding out the top 4.

They wouldn't be a top team but to say they would get demolished is a stretch. Price goes a looooooong way to making them a playoff team.

- Dangles13

With Price they are a lottery team!

tough to say

im not even sure I want to deal him in the first place.
yaks has the potential to be a great 1rw, but he needs to refine that shot. im pretty apprehensive to move ebs and assume yaks is our 1rw going forward.

that said; I wouldn't accept less than a top pairing defender for eberle.
obviously that's a broad statement as their are many varying levels of those.

the webers and the suters are out of the question, so I wont even bother coming up with a package for one of those.
id assume the hedmans, mcdonaghs, oel's are no more attainable than the first group. so same goes.

I think its the yandles, byfugliens, Coburns etc that we are forced to try and make a play for.
and while some might have marginally more value than eberle (yandle), some also have less or are extremely comparable (myers, bogosian).

final answer;
depends

the chip id like to see moved is the first rounder.

and again; I want a top pairing guy for it.
if we have to add something along with that, fine.
but depending on the piece, it would most likely be a b level prospect.

with Arizona winning abit, id assume the yandle sweepstakes have cooled off.
and im sure murrays asking price for myers is too high or it'd already be done.

some sabre fans have said they want our first AND one of yaks/eberle.
ludicrous
