We've needed a Pronger-type for years. - Nucker101
It would be awesome, but say goodbye to blue chip prospects/picks

Rolling the dice on names again, eh Ek? If the Rangers couldn't move the guy during a career year and costing about 1/3 of what he is now, how could this be true in any way? Think maybe it's time to take a break from the cig-a-weed?

I wish we had the defensive depth the blues have - Oilfan19
man, with a defense like that, you could easily win a cup with someone like miller in goal |

1 dman in today's market is worth 2 centers, a rw and backup goaltender |

Backup goalies are on the Micky D's dollar menu. |

I'll do it for him. He'd want Markstrom, Corrado, Shinkaruk and Gaunce. |

man, it doesn't take much hindsight to hit paydirt with those picks - Flyfreaky
Let's hear it then. setting aside the what-if problem that a solid pick earlier might change the fortunes of your team enough such that the last 10 years play out completely differently, how do you re-do the oilers 1st round drafting based on non-hindsight picks (players that were scouted around there at that time)?
2014 - Draisaitl
2013 - Nurse
2012 - Yakupov
2011 - Nuge, Klefbom
2010 - Hall
2009 - Pajaarvi
2008 - Eberle
2007 - Gagner, Plante, Nash
2006 - NONE
2005 - Cogliano
A cursory glance would tell you to start with the 2007 draft but surely one draft isn't the difference between perennial bottom-feeders and cup contention, is it? |
|
|
|
Of course, it's really only the brass' fault they built the team like an Eastern team.
But I don't even think getting pushed around is going to be that much a problem in the go ahead.
Not having a #1 dman will get you killed in any conference. - Morris
I was more making a point on how much easier playing in the east would be, but I think the oil will be fine once Leon and nurse are a few years in ... Right now they have the skill but not much size really |

Markstrom has a 1.24GAA and .955SV%.
You can have him for Giroux. |

Look at the oils record against the west ...a conference which they are the in the bottom of.... Now look at their record against the east ...they just might be a playoff team if they could play there. The oil are built like an eastern team ...which is why they have issues in the west. Id love to swap the oil with Habs in their respective conference ...I'd be willing to bet the oil make it in the east and the Habs miss in the west - Redmile247
