we could absolutely use a better 2/3c. but not even close to our number 1 problem imo.
top paring defender, consistent goaltending a rookie center in the top 9.
all bigger problems than arcobello imo - hugefemale dog77
is the top pairing defender going to help Scrivens be more consistent and not allow soft goals-or maybe teach him how to handle the puck properly?
arcobello is a bigger problem than drai in the top 9.
oilers need to stop keeping nuge and hall on the same line and spread the wealth. they keep the 2 with eberle to justify giving that soft one trick pony 6mil a year. |

It really didn't seem like that many, or maybe it just seemed like every shot of the Oilers was contested or blocked. - batjester
Well I'm sure at least all of them were Boyd Gordon. |

no. but a two way minute eater that can move the puck and break the forecheck is gonna make his life way easier.
im not of the thinking that our goaltending doesn't also need to be better, but the first goal scrivens doesn't see. so that's not on him. this game was not his fault.
we scored 1 goal.
a top pairing defender does so much for this team. break the forecheck, pressure off his partners and lesser minutes for the lower pairs, pressure of his goalie, pressure off his forwards to start the rush, etc etc etc etc.
I really cant explain how vital they can be if you don't see it.
and no chance arcobello is a bigger problem than draisaitl. this is crazy talk. draisaitl doesn't even get minutes in tough situations. cause he cant handle them.
u seriously think draisaitl is a better option than mark arcobello right now?!!
and hall played a bunch with perron tonight. on a different line/ Eakins didn't really have a lot of options to spread the wealth till someone else worked on that line. he couldn't just split up our only truly effective line. now that pouliot has proven he can play that role, you'll get what we saw tonight. hall on another line in parts at least |

Good team defense starts with the C...every shift. Our D wasn't the problem tonight whatsoever, they all pitched in and all did their part...even more so. - JLO961
Tonight the defense played good and I agree with a better C we would be a better team but I just don't see Arco as the reason we lose so many games.
I would much rather have Arco on the 4th line or as an extra forward and bring in a real center but I would rather have better defense. |

Arco isn't a 4th line player...he's a top six player in a different league. Our fourth line is great in my opinion.
and go back and watch Leon with the puck...he keeps it on his stick...he makes (or at least tries to make) intelligent hockey plays. Every puck that touches Arcobello's stick is a last minute, low percentage, panic play...and it is fkng up almost every rush that he's involved in. When you have wheels like this kid however, a few good things will happen from time to time...but he's killing almost everything that needs to "gel" with this hockey club.
anyway, rant over...the team looks better these days and it looks like two or three pieces needed rather than 20.
Draisaitl has more hockey IQ in his third toe on his left foot than Arcobello...he's just young. |

When I work night shifts in this nickel smelter in northern Manitoba I listen to the games on 630 ched and I've came to the conclusion that since I've listened to 12 games dating back to last year and the oilers have lost all (frank)ing 12, 630 ched is the reason we can't win. (frank) ched |

Team does look better and we only need 3 pieces and not 18 or 19 like we did when MacTaint took over.....problem is those are rare and expensive pieces. |

both goals were his fault. he is paid to see and stop the puck. good goalies find ways to make stops. he saw the puck on the first goal-his reflex was too slow to stop it.
so we need a better dman to make scrivens look good?
arcobello is worse than drai. at least drai has a future in the nhl. arcobellos only job in the nhl is with the oilers-on any other team he would be in the minors.
arcobello is a bummans gagner or liam reddox 2.0
what exactly is a bunch of mnutes?
how exactly is someone suppose to work on any line when they arent given a chance? dont piss in my ear and tell me its raining |

Yes a better defense would help make the goalie better.
Draisaitl has a future, which means one day but not right now. He needs time.
Arcobello isn't a proper top 6 center but he's all we have.
A bunch of minutes would be around 25+ per night.

how exactly is someone suppose to work on any line when they arent given a chance? dont piss in my ear and tell me its raining - Bosanuts im sorry that u were unable to grasp what im saying. but that isn't some sort of failure by me to explain.
what about us only scoring one goal? how many games u gonna give urself a chance in when u limit the other team to two goals? alot.
how many u gonna give urself a chance in when u only score 1? not many.
and there u have it!! the simple solution you're so famous for. it was all the goalies fault!!
and any time the goalie get screened on a shot its his fault cause hes paid to see the puck?? is this a joke?
and no one said draisaitl wasn't more talented. of course he is. but just cause hes going to be an impact player doesn't equate to him being one right now. u really think 18 year old draisaitl is better for us than arcobello? seriously??
a bunch of minutes? u haven't heard of a minute eating defender? 25+ a night would limit the nikitins and the aulies playing big minutes, no? u really don't know how this works?
and whos failing on what line? is this another reference to yakupov struggling cause Eakins doesn't give him the best linemates? but if draisaitl is so effective, wouldn't this make your contention irrelevant?
your post is just so.........bad |

this whole needs time. arco needs a new occupation.
since arco is not a proper top 6, and drai is not a proper top 6-why not go with a guy that can develop into something instead of wasting time on a guy with no hope?
thanks
