I'd like to give our goalie coach the boot and get a 1st pairing dman before we try any more goalies here. Chabot needs to go. Too many goalies that have done well elsewhere come in here and poop the bed under him. A NHL caliber defense would be nice too - Ihatebrianburke
Agree with this- although I will add this is the most NHL calibre ready defense this team has seen in years... they may be slow- but there is NHL experience on the back end... |

I may be naive here, but I feel like as a player I'd get a bit motivation from the idea that management was prepared to trade the 2015 1st while we're in 27th.
Even MacT getting up there saying "there's not going to be another top 5 prospect coming to help the team out. The guys here are going to have to bring this team to the next level themselves" would be a spark, even if they didn't get a trade done.
And if we did get a trade done, even if it's an overpay, we'd still probably land an impact player. |

That might be more motivating, but if that motivation turns them into the second worst team in the West...is it worth it? |

Frenchy I would tell you to kiss my ass with that pessimistic attitude but I'm afraid you would try and slip me the tongue.

Yes.
2nd worst in the west will be good enough to avoid giving up the McDavid or Eichel pick.
But setting that aside, yes. |

we have gone with draisaitl cause we have no options. he just isn't ready yet.
arcobello is a better nhl'er than draisaitl right now. but itd be nice to upgrade on him too. but that upgrade isn't 18 year old draisaitl.
ill bet the farm that if a move is made and a center is added, that its draisaitl that gets sent to Europe/scratched etc over arcobello - hugefemale dog77
I think you'd lose your farm. Arcobello is not an NHL caliber player, everyone knows it. Not only do I think Draisaitl has more talent, but he is CURRENTLY a better NHL player. He may get caught out of position sometimes due to speed/transition, but that is the only aspect of the game Arcobello can even come close to competing with a guy like Draisaitl. When's the last time big Leon got knocked off of the puck when he is sheltering it with his big frame? How much extra time does he give himself by his great puck possession ability? I really do not recall ever swearing at my television because Draisaitl was a. late to the play, b. gave an ECHL pass, or c. couldn't receive an NHL zinger of a pass from Hall/Nuge/Eberle/Perron/Yakupov/you name it. They've all sent the puck to Arco's stick...they've all shaken their heads because he can't handle the pass. It's been happening for two seasons now.
If they filled the 1C or 2C spot, it would be big Leon who would get pushed down (Arco is nowhere near capable of bottom 6 Centerman hockey) and if they brought in a 3C or 4C of NHL caliber they would probably keep Leon because of his natural spot to be in the top 6. Honestly, David Deharnais is a huge upgrade on Arcobello and I don't think Desharnais is really an NHL level talent.
Arco, to me, is a very serious problem for this team. The positions is SO demanding both physically and mentally. |
