Crappy thing is Spaling has shown NOTHING..... I can see why they have him on Malkins wing trying to showcase some potential, but I don't see it happening

Its almost like when Spaling came up in the trade, Old Man Ruth got confused and thought Poile was talking about someone else.... Only explanation IMO....

- TheGame316

Ha...maybe he heard "Stalberg".

I really don't think we are showcasing him on Malkin's wing as much as we are proving he doesn't fit there. I can see at time he wants to be somewhat of a "net-front" guy. But he's just not that good. Maybe that's unfair as its still a new system for him but, IMHO, if he can be a nice throw in in a trade, I wouldn't hesitate to shed that $2.2M.

I was wondering the same thing at the game last night. How on earth can Scuderi even see the ice 4 on 4 much less 3 on 3. But then, they continue to give Adams a regular shift.....

The officials were dreadful Saturday night. The 3rd Pens penalty, late in the first period was a phantom call. Should have been reversed like the call in the Kings game. Having a great view right behind the goal, I can't say that Scuderi's play was even a penalty, much less a penalty shot. He dove back into the play and clearly make contact with the puck and stick. Meanwhile, earlier in the game, Crosby gets yanked down and nothing is called. Where is the consistency?

Unreal ending; never seen that before

It doesn't matter if you get the puck first anymore. If you take him down it is a penalty.

Ryan, I disagree with you that Crosby was on full display and noticeable last night. Sure at times through out the game you noticed him but there were many times I noticed when a play broke down going toward the offensive zone he would just sort of lazily float coming back or head to the bench. That is something I've noticed in other games as well. Malkin on the other hand was a monster but the problem with him is getting him to be more consistent playing that way game in and game out. Maybe it's the style Malkin plays and his size that made me notice him more in last nights game but I did. This is not to say Crosby didn't do anything good last night but for a guy that good he is less noticeable to me then he should be.

On another note, I noticed you didn't mention Crosby getting frustrated with the officials and slamming his stick on the glass. While I think he had merit for being upset I think he needs to handle it differently. Personally I would of rather him say something after the game when the media is interviewing him. Nothing to crazy but let it be known he wasn't or isn't happy with the inconsistency of the reffing. The refs were calling everything against the Pens in the first period and then sort of let a lot go the rest of the game on both teams. Just another example of how poor/inconsistent the officiating is in the NHL. I've said this for a long time and that is as much as I love hockey the NHL refs are some the worst in sports because they always pick and choose what they want to call instead of what the rules dictate that they call.

Finally just throwing something out there. I know the Pens PP hasn't been as great as it was lately but are the refs reluctant to put them on the PP at times because of how potent their PP is or can be? Seems to me like this was brought up by one of the Pens players last year when it was clicking at one point. If so kind of shows how refs can dictate the game as they see fit.

That hit last night was the best I've seen in a long time!!! Beautiful and clean plus it was by a Superstar!!! I've always thought that Geno could lay people out every game if he wanted to. So strong.

Sid Iooked great Iast night. He was everywhere. I do enjoy Sids and Genos nastiness as weII. They onIy care about winning and wiII do what they have to do to win. As for Geno hitting peopIe I Iike it. He is big and can crush peopIe. It pumps him up and thats what he reaIIy needs. More nastiness in his game.

As for Sid, He is nonstop, goes into every corner and comes out with the puck and battIes every pIay. No need to worry about the best pIayer in the worId. I do think that coach needs to keep Chris and horney in the sIot as much as possibIe , that positioning is hard to stop.

Just saw Ryan tweeted the Megna goal GIF. There's gotta be a place on the 4th line for speed like that. Sure, he doesn't have the greatest hands, but neither do Adams or Sill...

Not sure Rust is ready for the NHL yet? But you probably would know more than me.

I'm not sure if it's true, but it may be a cap issue to bring Megna up and send Sill down. That's something I've heard. Spaling contract hurts there.

All of them are questionable in one form or another but Spaling was one they could have avoided by not even bothering to ask for him or accept him in a trade. Pick would have been better. I got why they did it but its biting them.

They are a whiny bunch over there.

I love how Levine mentions missed calls on the Pens but conveniently forgets the missed Rags calls. Two guys attacking Malkin after a clean hit?

I seem to remember they were quite OK with Staal crosschecking Sid in the head last spring too. Joke.

Honestly, it was classic and made me jump out of my chair. And I'm pretty old for that! Boom! What a game. Still can't get over that ending!

I sense a groundswell brewing where one Nick Spaling will soon be the next target of HockeyBuzz Penguin fan venom.

I have no hate towards Spaling. He's a steady but quiet hockey player. He got his contract but we all know he deserves $1.5M at max. Let the guy play and stop whinning.

So is Bartley ok with Sutter becoming a pretty good third line center?

Also, let the crapshoot begin on D. Time for trades.
