That's great. Enjoy it.

Right now my wife's grandmother, whom I respect and acknowledge is important to my wife for many reasons, is in the hospital after what appears to be a stroke she suffered about two weeks ago. After this stroke they've found clotting in her heart, a small bleed in her heart, and bleeding on her brain. They want to do surgery to fix the heart bleed but with the blood thinners and beta blockers she's taking from a heart attack years ago, combined with the risks to her brain bleed associated with stopping her heart for the surgery, it doesn't look good. The new clotting they've found represents another problem which may require a bypass surgery, but the same risks to her brain are present in that scenario as well.

I will be sad if she doesn't make it, but my wife will be inconsolable. My wife's entire family is waiting for the (seemingly inevitable) bad news, and I know when that day comes I'll have a toddler who won't know why Mommy is so sad, and a wife who likely won't get out of bed for days.

So yeah, enjoy your respite.
