Now that we're talking about Lindros, I kind of feel like Hodgson (and parents) feel like they were the next Lindros, and it has kind of bit them in the ass...

I think that trade had alot more to do with the parents than eric.

I think Lindros was one of the first and few high profile players who set a bit of a precedent in terms of player's hold-outs/demands and being in complete control over the direction of his career. And unfortunately that is one of the main things that people remember about him, as opposed to his on-ice play, which was dominating. I think he rubbed a lot of people (in particular 'hockey people' ) the wrong way.

Honestly though, without that trade Quebec/Colorado never would have gotten their Stanley Cup team. I believe the Lindros trade netted them Forsberg among others that were instrumental when Colorado started dominating the Western Conference along with Detroit.

Bobby Clark went on record to say he never had a problem with Eric Lindros, it was his parents, especially his mother, that was always the issue. Although he vented towards Lindros it was out of frustration towards his parents. Eric needed to tell his mom to STFU, but of course, that's a difficult thing to do.

Outside of all the off-ice stuff, the guy was one of the best players to ever play the game. The first seven years of his career were unbelieveable. At the time he was the 5th fastest player to reach 500 points, in 352 games, behind only Gretzky, Lemieux, Peter Stastny & Bossy. He was also the 6th fastest player to 600 points, did it in 429 games.

Then the injuries came...

They deserved a SC. I believe Leclair got one...... I think with Carolina. Could totally be wrong though. Maybe that was Recchi? Oh who gives two shyts. They were a solid bunch.

If bure is in HOF I think Lindros should be to.

Sometimes you just have to make exceptions.

And Bure was certainly one of them.

Not sure about Leclair but Brind'amour got one in Carolina

Richardson when asked about Kassian:

“He’s hilarious and you want to be around him,” linemate Brad Richardson said Monday. “But you need to be ready for games, too. I’m not saying that was an issue, but as you get older you learn better how to prepare and for a guy like him, he needs to learn to pull it in.

“It’s not like he’s doing a bad job, it’s just that you have to improve and not take a while to get into a game — you’re in the game right away.

“His game is better than last year. The way he can take pucks to the net and his vision is amazing and he has a great shot. But you have to do things well defensively and I think he’s adjusted well to that. Some of the mistakes he made last year, he’s not making them as often and those are big things. He has to stay mentally focussed and not worry about things that happen, and moving on.”

I'd still like to Jensen get called up again eventually, it has to say something about him that whenever he's up with the Canucks his possession numbers are always among the best on the team at 5v5.

That pass he made to Higgins the other night was also amazing.

Thanks, Nucker, for that Richardson quote on Kassian. That's pretty forthright when talking about a teammate.

New blog is now up, on Kassian and more:
