I am a fan of both Moulson and Myers. The difference is we could hire just about anyone to do what Moulson is going right now. Gerbe may have been better. In fact, when he's on his game, Moulson is good, but not irreplaceable.

I think the hate for Myers comes from the fact that he isn't perfect. We've hated on many players here over the years for not being perfect and wished them away. They've gone away and so has the Sabres respectability. I don't think you can remove Myers and not a expect a drop off on D on this team.

The "hate" for Myers comes from the fact that he isn't the gamebreaker we all expected him to be since he won the Calder. We expected him to be great. We need to adjust our expectations to "very good" and the arguments will cease.

Chara didnt start his career when he was 19.
IDK why people compare Chara to Myers, since their game is not similar, Its like comparing Scott Stevens Stats to Myers.

Not counting his first season (only 25 games, so I'll ignore it), it took Chara 4 more seasons of play before he started putting up a good amount of points (so 5 "full" seasons in, 6th season in the NHL).

Myers had the obvious great first season, very solid 2nd season, and has struggled with injuries since, thus low production.

Not excusing him by any means, just pointing out that Myers is now in his 6th season, so we'll see. And he's on another historically bad offensive team, so I'd even excuse him if he didn't hit the 40+ plateau like Chara has found for his last 10 seasons (minus one off year in there for him)

Realistically, Myers should be more talented offensively than Chara, so once solidly in his "prime" (the next season or two), he should be eclipsing 40 easily if that's in his ability
