Homie's assessment of Myers' trade value is probably correct. He probably could land a second line winger. That's probably all another team would (and should) give up for him right now. He's been good, not great. However, a 2nd line winger does next to nothing for this team right now. They're better off keeping him. - buffalofan19
coho IMO should be the scapegoat

You could get Eberle for him, the Oilers would do that all day long. |

New topic. Assuming the NYI and STL picks are outside of the top 10, and Murray goes the rote of trading them for proven NHL talent.
Who/what should we target? - ImThatGuy
islanders are not far from being outside the playoffs
my guess is with the blues pick, sabres second rd pick and islanders pick they target a winger, a d man and a goalie |

doughty, also 24 has 37 points a plus 18 and wins the cup
in an off year - homiedclown
My point is that a guy that gets a lot of points isn't the be all end all either. I'd take Doughty over those other 2 any day. He scores, he's good in his own end, and he plays a physical game. |

If that were the case, and that offer were really on the table, we'd have heard about it by now, from somewhere (i.e. Dreger, MacKenzie, etc.). I'm not saying that Murray would have taken it, but an offer like that doesn't go undetected. In today's day and age, someone would open their big mouth. |

karlsson is the type of player that gets your team to making the playoffs, kind of like soupy was here
doughty is the type of player that lets you compete for cups

Funny observation, the people that want Myers gone are the same people that were convinced Bennett was going to be the pick.
Not just Gil, but Irish and a few others. I really think it has everything to do with the fact that Myers doesn't beat people up and he's resented for that. People obsessed with toughness and grit and disregard skill. |

I'm not saying the deal waa talked about or mentioned but IMO Myers is worth Eberle and IMO the Oilers would do that deal. |

On this team?
Jesus Christ. We have had games with 10 shots on goal. And our defensemen who are constantly being pinned in their own end with no support should be all-stars?
I have heard it all - sbroads24
How are the defensemen innocent in all this? They are part of the problem. That whole team is a train wreck in their own zone.
Has Myers been bad? No. But even all-star players shine on bad teams.

From what I hear, the Ski areas haven't got much yet, but should later tonight. The band has been staying in one spot for quite a while now. |

Not on this team. Even Erik Karlsson had Daniel Alfredsson or Jason Spezza to play with when he "elevated" the Sens to the playoffs.
Shea Weber had Ryan Suter and Roman Josi with him, now has Seth Jones.

This. If you have to say a player "would be better if he had x", or "if he didn't have y", it means that he's a good player, not a great one 99 times out of 100. |

Yet there are examples of "All star" players being buried by sub par teams every season.
Mark Giordano was just a decent player for years while the Flames struggled, now at 31 he's going to be a Norris candidate, did he just all of the sudden get it at 30? Or did being stuck on a losing franchise make a really good player lose value?
