This summer is a perfect time to trade Nikitin.

A) People are looking for easy upgrades at the cost of 3rd/4th draft picks.
B) 4.5 in salary isn't that much for one year of a player for lower-spending teams
C) Clearing 4.5 in CAP HIT however for our team would be gigantic and - i hate to say it - probably necessary.

I like his skills well enough, he's just not an economical choice with Marincin, Klefbom and even Aulie as options.

And like said before there almost never is a book with the case anymore. And Digital download means you don't have to store game cases everywhere

i think the only teams looking to make a trade for Nikitin are playoff teams trying to fill in for injuries, we would need to retain some of that salary

What do you guys think of signing Brodeur for the rest of this season? Could give us better goaltending while we figure out what to do in net

Hockey analysis...click on player stats tab. Click on a player name and then the year to see common linemates and their Corsi stats with certain linemates, etc.

my guess is;

A.) edm wasnt his first choice to play and he wanted to see what other offers were out there.
and/or
B.) there wasnt alot of interest, so he went with the oilers offer.
and/or
C.) he chose edm as mact offered substantially more money (at least 500k +)

id say its probably a combination of all 3.

that said, if he didnt have alot of offers and mact substantially beat the few he did have, he might not be that easy to move.

my guess would be hes an add in to a team giving up a solid defender to us to soften the blow their blueline takes. but at least as much, if not more, a salary dump so we can afford the larger salary we're taking on. i
e; closer to negative value than positive.

better graphics, better gameplay, free to play online.

I have no desire to waste my money on a ps4 and the ps3 games are choppy and glitchy.

I dunno. Maybe a 3rd or 4th is way overstating it. I'd trade him for a conditional 7th this summer. I might even trade him + a decent prospect to clear his salary. That's how dire our cap situation is.

Of course if Mike Richards was in fact being traded, I'd try to tie Nikitin to something amazing to get that deal done. At least that's trading a frivolous over-expenditure for a bigger, more useful over-expenditure

I can see him going like Nultz did at the deadline. If we have to retain 1mil to reduce the cap hit, I'd be all fair game for it.

That's one benefit to everyone thinking our organization is a joke: people think guys like Nultz were mishandled rough gems instead of guys that genuinely can barely play anymore.

We wont need to retain salary- his hit is 4.5 mill... not 6... and only for 1 yr remaining... further- sell for cheaper then... 4th or 5th rounder opposed to 3rd...

it is.

that 5 years left at 5+ is a scary contract to take on.
but id assume for at least the next 2 years (which is seeming more and more vital to us moving forward) he'd be worth the risk.
if he does in fact help us get to the next level, evena couple years as an anchor contract is well worth it.

we're desperate right now. i see things going really bad unless we improve asap

but if retaining 1mi creates a significant difference in the return package, why not do it?

Things are not going to improve. I think that's a fair statement. We desperately need a major trade for a top dman to happen.

Trade deadline should be a great time to dump him- if not sooner... as well dump Jultz and Nikitin as a package that would save us roughly 9 mill combined... as Jultz is going to be another holdout... If we keep til summer the demands will likely not be there... unless its to reach cap floor which I am not even sure which are those teams... pretty sad when your in last (frank)ing place and near the ceiling with a bunch of kids...

I think this season should show that Jultz doesn't perform to his salary level.

are we really talking about "dumping" these guys for draft picks??

you guys dont think thats the route mact is gonna take unless hes got a myers/yandle etc already on the squad, do you?

there is no way he gives up on this year to tank imo, regardless of the psoition we're in.
of course the nikitins and jultz's have huge issues. but theres no way hes going to leave us open to having an even worse defence next year. and we know that impact players signing here is a crapshoot at best.
and no way hes going to bank on nurse, klefbom and marincin filling those roles at the nhl level just yet without proof

this seems like a backwards move.
are we talking about starting again?

maybe im misunderstanding and we're talking about clearing space as we already have the "top pairing defender" trade done.
