I bet the only Dman that will be moved this year is Petry, Nikitin was brought in to be a stop gap for Nurse and Klefbom will play once Petry is sent away. I highly doubt we'll see any major moves and MacT will ask for patience

are we really talking about "dumping" these guys for draft picks??
you guys dont think thats the route mact is gonna take unless hes got a myers/yandle etc already on the squad.
there is no way he gives up on this year to tank, regardless of the psoition we're in.
of course the nikitins and jultz's have huge issues. but theres no way hes going to leave us open to having an even worse defence next year. we know that impact players signing here is a crapshoot at best.
and no way hes going to bank on nurse, klefbom and marincin filling those roles at the nhl level just yet.
this seems like a backwards move.
are we talking about starting again?
maybe im misunderstanding and we're talking about clearing space as we already have the "top pairing defender" trade done. - hugefemale dog77
I would see dumping Nikitin as a draft pick, but I'm believing that any trades should be bundled in order to secure better players, not draft picks.
We should only accept picks if there is no other option and we need to rid the cap space.

Petry should be signed for 4-5 years, IMO. Jultz can have another 1 year bridge if possible, but I could care less where he ends up. |

I never said trade Jultz for picks... but realistically I dont know what you get for those 2... Furthermore- they are not exactly pillars on our team defensively- TBH I doubt we notice they are gone IMO... Replace Nikitin with Klefbom right now or even Ference is an upgrade to be frank... Nurse will be a full time Oiler next season book it... as will Marincin if he is not traded...

When i was young and had no idea. Yes. Roy was the reason I stopped being a Habs fan. He was the reason I became an Av's fan.
Cujo is the reason I became an Oiler's fan. Him and the pure hatred i had for the Dallas Stars, Modano, Hull, Belfour. - ChetManly
I hate those 3 too. But not even close to as much as I hate Derian Hatcher that piece of (frank)in poop!!!!! |

"big structural change in hall's game, the way that he’s thinking. When you watch good teams — and these are the things we are trying to impart on these players. We went to New York and watched Anaheim play. Arguably the best line in the game is Getzlaf, Perry and whoever. they’ve made a changes. And I watched them play throughout the game and Perry only had two chances to score the whole game, but he made the right play with the puck all the time. And that’s what we’re trying to impart on our players. Let’s make better decisions with the puck. Like, our guys are inexperienced on how to win. And so they’re making a lot of poor tactical decisions with the puck. Especially earlier in the year, it was unbelievable the amount of turnovers. Most of our losses were self-driven. And, you know, it’s getting them to change that mentality. I’m seeing that."
this is from an interview with mact from last year that ive never read.
its really good. talks about the poor decisions these kids are making.
the ridiculousness of comparing us to LA and saying weve done something wrong. how lombardi was on the hot seat and Quick came outta nowhere to dominate etc etc and now he's a genius. |

I like Petry as well but I am not sure he wants to be in Edmonton.
I think MacT is betting on our future D being
Nurse, Schultz, Marincin, Klefbom, Ference and Fayne and I doubt that changes unless a deal comes into play that offers us an upgrade at a cost that doesn't include our core. Do I agree with his methods, probably not but I would put money on that's what he's planning. |

Funny- MacT critiqued Tambo for not doing much yet- with the little he has done (perron reference and the UFA signings)- I dont see much difference in the end result- this team is still last (frank)ing place in the west... and at Cap CEILING full of kids that will be needing to be resigned and not for discounts |

we dont notice that jultz and nikitin are gone?
and ference has been playin well. replace him with klefbom right now?
i realize these guys have limitations and have been very poor in spots, but i think this is either underestimating the massive difference in the nhl game to the ahl. and/or way overrating the impact those kids would make at this stage.
id love to see all of them on the squad next year. but not by default.
this could make us worse imo.
i love nurse's game and his potential is massive. but for him to come in as a rookie and be compentent is a question. let alone be a dominant player.
id bet we're looking at at least a season or two.
he might, but the doughtys and even brodins are the exception, not the rule. |

I'd let Klefbom or Marincin have a go at replacing Nikitin this summer unless he improves dramatically.
I actually don't understand what the hatred of Schultz as a player is about. He's developing pretty well imo, and he'll probably be a pretty useful in the go-ahead.
To me, it's misplaced aggression about management who seems to think higher of him than the average oil fan. But that has almost nothing to do with his play. And the idea that he was being a selfish holdout this summer is an insidious rumour that is borne purely out of that weird, misplaced aggression. |

It takes awhile to figure it out but here is Yak's for this year:
You can even look at multiple seasons combined.
I'd suggest only looking at 5v5 Corsi ZS-adjusted. Basically only counts Corsi from tied or 1 goal situations and adjusts for how tough/easy the minutes the player plays.
