I know you've said no a hundred times. But most of that comes simply from your dislike of him, right? He's not an amazing dman. He even makes some stupid plays. But he would add stability to our dcore. He shoots the puck far better than any dman we have. He hits far better than any dman we have. He's a minute-eater. It strikes me that overpaid is the biggest knock against him. Even at that, people who act like he's 3+ million overpaid are being disingenuous.

I'm with you to a certain extent with the first two, so you needn't be hyperbolic. Unless you mean to say that the threshhold for what a "good defenseman" is, is way higher than one would expect.

I do find that people always complain about locker room problems on losing teams. The only really successful team that I can remember that was great on ice and disruptively poopty in the locker room was the Flyers, and that's because Carter and Richards were reportedly on coke. Unless Phaneuf is doing blow off of Eakins' healthy snacks table, I think "locker room problems" is generally something guys say to excuse their inferior play on the ice.

I see a need for a 2C and a Left-shooting D. Obvi a smaller price for Bozak and Phaneuf is completely unpalatable to some Oil fans, so how about a larger price for Yandle and Vermette/Hanzal?

Mact and Eakins have spoken about a certain culture of winning they want to build. Phaneuf doesn't fit. At all.

Again its just my opinion.
