Im pretty sure that proposal was a joke.
But what's also a joke is the annual parade to the lottery from the Edmonton Oilers. It sucks because I'd love to cheer for them, but they never get any better.
It's time to face facts, you need to get rid of at least one of your young guys to round out the team.
Hall is going nowhere. He is as untouchable to the Oilers as Karlsson is to the Sens.
And as much as I'd drool over having Eberle on the Sens, it doesn't make sense for the Oilers unless there's a Turris going the other way.
The smart play would be to package him to AZ in exchange for Yandle, or someone with some experience. Oilers are so desperate for some veteran leadership and solid D it's disgusting.
The oilers need to get better. They're a team I really want to cheer for out west. Taylor Hall is one of the best players in the league. - Jordo
U mean u only cheer for good teams? Then what are u doing cheering for the painfully mediocre sens?
But seriously, the proposal was a joke whether he meant it to be or not.
And the way he worded it, I don't think ur correct. How many times I've read some laughably stupid proposal, and then been told I'm accepting losing cause I don't want to accept a deal in which the oilers get raped....
And I don't think Ull find one oiler fan who won't make a move to get better.
And as u say, hall isn't going anywhere. And I should add nuge to that as well.
But I think most oiler fans are very open to any of Ebs/yaks/2015 first if it improves us.
the one thing I'll say that might be a mirror of hb and real life, is that while we want to get better, we're not going to take pennies on the dollar for Eberle just cause we're bad. He's got value.
That said; I'd wager Mact has been low balled many times by gm's who want to take advantage of his supposed 'desperation'.
I'd bet anything Mact is all over trying to acquire a top pairing dman as we speak |

Sorry to the decent Leafs fans, but it's just hilarious how this happened after Prock was trolling and has the Preds listed as his fav team. |

I want to follow a team out west, but Edmonton, despite all of their young talent up front, aren't even exciting to watch.
And I cheer for the Sens because I was born and raised in Ottawa.
And the sens are 3 pts above .500. They're on pace for 96 points and have 16 million in cap space.

Neither team has won a cup in 47 years.. But I know more recently, like say the last 15 years at least we only missed the playoffs 3 times. what have the leafs done in that span? |

Man, it doesn't bother me that they haven't won yet. I did get to watch a Cup final game in person though, and it was awesome. Can you imagine, watching your favourite team play in the Cup finals? It was sweet to watch them win, the building was electric.
I just feel sorry for you prock, I really do. |

You weren't using a computer in 2004? How old are you?
In fact, if you were so young that you weren't using a computer in 2004, I highly doubt you were old enough to appreciate the cup run in 07. So aren't you pretty much the same as Prock? |

It wasn't a joke. That's a bad cover.
Setting aside that you have no knowledge of what the GM is doing or trying to do, you have no pulse on what the fans are feeling, what they'd be willing to give up and how much they want to improve, despite having no ability to affect a ton of change. You have second-hand conjecture from three provinces away. |
