After a few coffee's this morning the only conclusion I can come to is that
Berube, Hextall, and Umberger are all best friends. Probably college buddies or they own summer homes on the same lake. There has to be something .
Zombie has done NOTHING to deserve a first line promotion. I am sure Jake isn't happy. At least Vinny has some offensive ability... Give him the chance! - 3flyerkids

It is ugly, but maybe Voracek is able to get him going a little bit, and Umberger can find some confidence and get out of the doldrums he's been in. - MJL
Yup, that would be awesome. We'll see how Umberger responds. No doubt he can elevate his game above where it's been so far this season. |

the Flyers need to channel some Forsberg, Lindros and LeClair - vejim
Those three guys, even in their current states, would be an upgrade over everyone that isn't G or Jake! |

I understand the game of hockey and how a PK works, considering I played college hockey and still play, but thanks for the instruction manual. No it isn't "strictly" due to Rinaldo and Umberger, but they sure as hell aren't doing the job and shouldn't be out there for it. Coburn and Couturier were huge culprits on the PK last game too. - aantny88
A bit of a tedious read, but a player-by-player breakdown of this year's PK versus last year's:

(TL;DR: Grossmann and Read are struggling) |

OH, I thought that Vinny was excellent because of all the attempted shots he had the other night, so that would immediately indicate a promotion to 1st line center - aantny88
Definitely seemed like he was turning a corner. Lecavalier was dynamic with his shot attempts, 6 blocked, 5 missed shots, 1 got through. |

Yea I would say so considering they are all just at the age of 40 or a little above and Im sure all of them before it is all said and done will be in the HOF. |

In frustration, St. Louis demands a trade back to the Lightning because they're a better team than the Rags.
Zuc is diagnosed with the rare Benjamin Button syndrome and has actually been shrinking since his birth in 1908.
Hank retires to pursue is dream of modeling. He deems himself "King of Scarves" despite the fact that he never sells or produces them.
To light a fire under the team, Torts is brought back. He demands they all block shots and practices by lining them up and allowing Chara to blast away. Each player is subsequently injured and put on IR. Torts is satisfied with their effort, which is really all that counts in this league.
Fast forward 5 years: Flyers looking for their first win at MSG since '14 playoffs. |

I'm not ready to throw the towel in on Vinny. He produces when he is on the ice with talent. When you put a Zombie on his LW or even VDV..... what can you possibly expect out of him?? Even with TB in his prime he was more or less just a 75 pt. player.
I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if we get shutout tonight just because Umberger is anchoring the top line. Everyone else is asleep offensively. |

All of you that have been defending Brayden Schenn are going to have plenty to crow about if he flourishes in this role over the next two games. |

I actually really want Berube to succeed at coaching this Flyers team but based on the decisions he makes with our roster and the results on the ice. I would like to see a new coach behind the bench starting next season. |

Unfortunately I have...and trust me it pisses me off that Umberger gets "promoted" to the top line and has done nothing to deserve it. I don't give a damn if he played with Jake in Columbus or not, because his goose and Vinny's, are both cooked! - aantny88
I don't think even RJ Umberger is of the delusion that he has earned anything.
Umberger is a squirrel trying to find a nut at this point.
Unfortunately, he is a very expensive squirrel. |

I'd like to see if Scotty Bowman could put 4 productive lines together with the peices that the Flyers have. Even when healthy. |

Vinny can't play LW and and been horrible when paired with BSchenn. I don't want him anywhere near the first line.
It Laughton plays too well to go back to the AHL, it's possible VdV goes back to the Phantoms when Giroux is fit. Then they would go with 13 forwards, 8 D, and 2 goalies.
But Vinny and Umberger aren't going anywhere this season. People need to accept that fact. - Feanor

With Schenn moved to center, which I wish wasn't happening, the Flyers have one LW in Umberger. Somebody has to play there. |

Wasn't Schenn moved back to wing with G and Jake against the Habs,,where he scored twice.
Is the team rumoured to be shopping Vinny. Well then, give him a chance to play his natural position while keeping Schenn and Jake on wings, give him a chance with 1st line players . IMO Vinny has more to offer to the first line than Umberger

Yep, I'm not complaining. I'm all for trying anything to get Umberger going at this point. They can't just carry him for 82 games. |
