I do have a feeling that perhaps, despite my criticisms, schenn catches fire at center and that causes controversy - JoeRussomanno
trade Schenn WITH the Zomberger and we could get a middle tier player like Daymund Lankcow |

VDV and Umberger are both wastes of time. Why not let Laughton play? - PLindbergh31
I would rather have him take Umberger's 14 minutes of ice time as well and demote RJ to the 4th line too. And VDV is a 13th forward at best anyway. |

That will actually cause a bigger existential problem for the Flyers than whether or not Laughton plays well.
If BSchenn steps in and kills it, I guess it's a good problem to have, but the questions will linger about just what position should Schenn play to have success. |

i'm most interested in seeing where/how laughton is used, just as much as how he performs. whether they win or not doesn't really matter, but it would be nice if they find a way to pull this out and stick it to that (frank)ing team tonight.
well...i guess it does matter. |

I think this roster has individual talent that doesn't fit well together, no matter how you jumble the pieces. - johndewar
I do believe that a better coach would be able to juice more out of this flawed ensemble... for example, Tippett spins straw into gold every year despite a tougher conference, mediocre players, and probably the poorest GM/owner support in the league. |

The only hope I have is that last season they turned it on in December. I need to see more deperation in their game. Why we havent seen it yet is ridiculous. |

Yeah, but you're talking about a group of guys that couldn't even bother to show up to training camp in shape.
I'm fine with Berube playing tough guy, for now, with this team as currently constituted. He won't be here 2 years from now. |

Ahemmm..
(JAK as Flyers org. spokesperson)
"We love Brayden, we really do. We think he is a young guy that still has a lot more to offer. He plays a bigger game than his size would indicate. He brings that Flyers style play. He is a versatile kid too. We love that about him. We can play him at center or wing and know that he will do well. He still could be a bit more consistent, and we believe that will come in time. He just needs to keep his feet moving and working hard and everything will fall in to place." |

Even when they are playing well, they don't play well in MSG.
Just don't screw the pooch on Thursday. It's going to be a packed, rowdy house for the Legion of Doom thing. |

When Giroux returns, does anyone think Laughton sticks? - PLindbergh31
Depends on how well he plays, and if there's enough ice time for him up here. It needs to be at least 10-12 minutes per game, but it would make for a very strong team down the middle.

It's bad enough the Flyers are being crippled by Umberger's cap hit, they shouldn't be forced to be hurt on the ice as well. Put his ass in the press box. - PLindbergh31

If his contract really does expire after this year, I doubt he gets re-upped, unless they inexplicably go deep. |

You have to think Hextall has his own idea on who to bring in. I don't know how much input he had on selecting Berube, as I don't think he was back with the org all that long when that decision was made. |

Tippett would be at the top of my wish list... think his progressive approach to the game would mirror Hexy's philosophy better. He's also used to having to deal with a lot of kids being in the lineup at once.
After that, I don't know if they could poach Blashill from Grand Rapids or not, but he's done a nice job w/ developing the Wings' latest crop of kids. Luke Richardson's done a pretty good job in Binghamton with the Sens' kids, too... although I don't suspect people would react too well to another former Flyers plug hire.
Wildcard: Mike Keenan out of Russia. Reformed and probably could bring a lot of good ideas from overseas back with him. |
