Like that matters. Flyers skate in mud at MSG.

Yah..they shouldn't even play tonight..
Should just save it for tomorrow...

Well I value the talent on this roster more than you do obviously. His choice in lines and d-pairs has been just flat out poor and head scratching. This team is capable of more than what we have seen.
- GOA88

Other then splitting up Giroux and Voracek, and Read and Couturier, he has tried countless combinations to find something that works. Moved Schenn and Simmonds all around. Bellermare and Raffl all around. Tried Umberger in different spots. Tried Akeson, and Vandevelde in different areas. There are only so many choices. Name specifics that are head scratchers?

I agree that they are capable of more then what we have seen. But that's due to other factors, and not line combinations.

That will actually cause a bigger existential problem for the Flyers than whether or not Laughton plays well.

If BSchenn steps in and kills it, I guess it's a good problem to have, but the questions will linger about just what position should Schenn play to have success.

- johndewar

Schenn was on pace for 30 goals and 35 assists playing at LW. I think the myth that he needs to play center, and is most effective at center, has been done away with.

I do believe that a better coach would be able to juice more out of this flawed ensemble... for example, Tippett spins straw into gold every year despite a tougher conference, mediocre players, and probably the poorest GM/owner support in the league.
- Tomahawk

I beleive that the culpabilty will eventually fall on Berube for the inconsistent play of this team, if they don't fix those issues. For the slow starts, lack of skating in games such as Columbus, and for 3rd period collpases against Montreal. And the PK. Those are the issues that are the problem. Not the line combos that Berube has put out there.

It's going to be hilarious when they draft McDavid. We'll all be howling!

If the Flyers offered the Sabres Umberger for Irbe what would happen?

Tippett would be at the top of my wish list... think his progressive approach to the game would mirror Hexy's philosophy better. He's also used to having to deal with a lot of kids being in the lineup at once.

After that, I don't know if they could poach Blashill from Grand Rapids or not, but he's done a nice job w/ developing the Wings' latest crop of kids. Luke Richardson's done a pretty good job in Binghamton with the Sens' kids, too... although I don't suspect people would react too well to another former Flyers plug hire.

Wildcard: Mike Keenan out of Russia. Reformed and probably could bring a lot of good ideas from overseas back with him.

- Tomahawk

well....tippett and keenan are both formers, too.

i wouldn't be opposed to either of them. seriously.

Ahemmm..

(JAK as Flyers org. spokesperson)

"We love Brayden, we really do. We think he is a young guy that still has a lot more to offer. He plays a bigger game than his size would indicate. He brings that Flyers style play. He is a versatile kid too. We love that about him. We can play him at center or wing and know that he will do well. He still could be a bit more consistent, and we believe that will come in time. He just needs to keep his feet moving and working hard and everything will fall in to place."

Just guessing Keenan has to be around 65. Are there any coaches in the NHL that age right now?

If they bring Keenan back, I demand that the Flyers arena people play the Imperial March theme from Star Wars when the team skates on the ice.

my goalie buddies were going berserk over this last night. i didn't realize he retired from the nhl at the end of 2004...thought it was a little more recent than that. strange to see him in the new gear instead of those 15" koho pillows. i would have loved to see him thrown in there last night.

big irbe fan.

Love Coughlin. I'm afraid at the end of the year he's a goner. I really could see Coughlin concluding his coaching career at West Point. Would be perfect for him.

Holy crap Sutter is only 56. Geez....
