Who would, at present, be the #1 guy at his position on more teams: Nuge or Hamilton?
From my view, and giving anything approximating a tie to Hamilton, he clearly wouldn't be a #1 dman on:
Anaheim
Arizona
Boston (because he's not )
Calgary
Chicago
Colorado
Detroit
Los Angeles
Minnesota
Montreal
Nashville
Ottawa
Pittsburgh
San Jose
St Louis
Tampa Bay
Vancouver
As I say, I gave a LOT of leeway with some of the remaining 13 teams. (Sabres, Rangers, BJs and Leafs, off the top of my head).
As for Nuge, it's probably around the same, I don't think it'd be substantially more. And of course, both are going to progress and that number of teams for each will dwindle.
Maybe our friend can do the same exercize for Nuge though, and I'll find it's higher than I expected. |

You are hilarious. You list Hamilton as a player that has proven himself as #1 DMan of the future ( and by the sounds of it the present as well) , and Monohhan and Grandlund have done enough to be considered legit top line centers yet Nuge has not done enough to be considered a 1C of the future?
Holy (frank), man. - Jeropotato
Except you know Granlund took over the reigns when Koivu went down and played lights out in the playoffs, and Monohan has them in the top 4 in the West right now... Nuge??????????????? Bueller????????????????????? Has Nuge made the players around him better???

Where do people draw the distinction between "bad 1st line centre" and "not a true 1st line centre?"
I find a lot of time that when people are commenting about someone's talent, they're often talking inadvertently about depth and organizational structure. - Morris
Just like misinterperting Nuge as a #1C?
And I forgot about Ryan Johansen in that list. |

Hamilton would be on Colorado, quite possibly Nashville if he was playing with Weber, Minnesota(only because Brodin is ill right now and hurt) possibly Montreal to spare Markov big minutes even though now he's bumped down to play with Gonchar. |

Nuge would not be the 1st line centre on any West team with the exception of possibly Winnipeg, which I already stated! The East is weaker of course so there are more teams there. Possibly:
Ottawa
Florida
Buffalo
Leafs
All teams that will more than likely miss the playoffs.

So Granlund and his 8 points in 17 games on very good Minnisota team is a bonafide number 1 Center and Ryan Nugent Hopkins and his 13 points in 17 games on one of the worst teams In The league is not a #1 Center?
You should be an arbitration Lawyer with iron clad arguements like that. |

Just for fun, how would this team look if the following things didn't or did happen?
1. Sheldon Souray quietly addressed his situation quietly and was moved for a 1st and prospect that summer ( 20th-30th overall, 2011 draft).
2. Ales Hemsky was traded at the Taylor Hall draft when we decided to go full rebuild.
3. Ryan Whitney didn't get hurt and continued to progress rather than regress.
Interesting but it shows how a couple poor decisions and some bad luck has really set us back. - Jeropotato

Would you like me to help? There appears to be a lot of "hind-sight" within this thread, every knucklehead and his brother can do that. Here's a hind-sight list of the players they should of taken in the 1st and 2nd rounds LOL??
2007 - Logan Couture, Max Pacioretty & PK Subban
2008 - Jordan Eberle
2009 - Ryan O'Rielly & Robin Lehner
2010 - Taylor Hall
2011 - Gabriel Landeskog
2012 - Jacob Trouba
2013 - Nichushkin
2014 - Draisaitl

Yes but look what he did for both Parise and Pominville. The team was floundering with koivu at the top spot and Granlund led them to the playoffs. So we was their bonafide #1 and that line has once again creaked havoc for other teams this year... When has Nuge ever taken the reigns so to speak? Hall does his thing regardless of whether Nuge is next to him or not... and they cant even find a fit for the other side on that top line...

No, the hindsight is how we haven't focused on dmen at all and have only drafted forwards for the past 10 years. |
