BUT THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT WAS HOW THEY USED THEIR FIRST ROUND PICKS!!!!!!!! AND THEY DONT HAVE ANYONE TO SHOW FOR THEIR D PICKS IN LATER ROUNDS EXCEPT PETRY WHOS NOT GOOD - mnhockeyguy
The wild have drafted exactly 9 dman with there first two picks since 04. If the oilers draft strategy is flawed, so is the wild.
You can argue that leddy, Faulk, brodin, dumba are better than petry but that's just opinion. Our dman just didn't turn out like yours did. But your offense didn't turn out like ours so oh well.
Didn't know you guys picked Benoit pouliot 4th overall in 05. That was interesting.
Players picked AFTER pouliot that year :
5 price
8 setogouchi
11kopitar
12 mark staal
17 hanzal
21 rask
This hindsight game rules. You guys fukynn suck with your picks. |

Ask him how Dumba is doing at number 7 overall in 2012
Trouba at 9
Forsberg at 11
Girgensons 14
Hertl 17
Maatta 22
just as another example
Or Colton Gillies as their first round pick in 2007 followed up by Tyler Cuma in 2008 in the first round, just to draft Nick Leddy in the first round in 2009 and trade him for Cam Barker

You can look up every year and find examples of it from every team. People love to hate on the oilers. Another team makes the same mistake as the oilers, but the oilers are the ones mismanaging everything. Granted, there are problems. But you can pick apart any team if you want. Even successful ones.

EXCEPT ONCE AGAIN WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE DRAFTS UP TO THE YAK DRAFT! I READILY ADMITTED NURSE WAS A GOOD PICK BUT THAT WAS LAST SEASON. THE WHOLE ARGUMENT WAS THEY NEEDED MORE FOCUS ON D EARLIER THEN THEY DID, HENCE WHY THEY ARE AT THE POINT THEY ARE AT. - mnhockeyguy

exactly, every team has terrible track records in stretches when it comes to drafting.
the Avs have 2 players on their roster who are draft picks outside of the Lottery picks. That's not a great way to build a team.
But for any team to pile on another team based on their drafting...the wild have had some of the worst drafting for the longest time. If any team understands the pains of draft years..its them |

Hamilton would be on Colorado, quite possibly Nashville if he was playing with Weber, Minnesota(only because Brodin is ill right now and hurt) possibly Montreal to spare Markov big minutes even though now he's bumped down to play with Gonchar. - mnhockeyguy
Top pairing is not the same as #1 dman. If we're talking about who Hamilton could be a top pairing guy on, we can start talking about what teams Nuge would be a first line forward on. |
