Flyers dont need Coby anymore. I think they proved it. - GOA88
I think Coburn is their #1 trade chip at the moment. At the deadline, it may be even more so. I think this team will be challenging for a playoff spot, but it will be the 8th seed. And if they can make a deal to get a good winger in here, I would do the deal.

Read and Coburn HAVE to be moved. They r your most moveable pieces, but you will be selling low with both of them... Hell, get a 3rd for read - CACannon18
I think Coburn might have a ton of value closer to the TDL for a team needing help going into the playoffs or on a playoff run. I really think he could get a 1st rounder around that time.
Also if this team is out of it at the TDL i think almost every player is available for the right price except Giroux, Voracek, Couturier and Schenn. And yes I think Simmonds could be moved if it brought back a great value. I love him and the way he playes but i kind of see him as a niche player(PP specialist) and would love a winger that could provide more ES scoring. |

Read isn't an old man so I expect that his struggles will subside and he'll regress to the mean. Selling low on a solid two-way player like Read has been in his career would be folly. - NickTheKid87
I think there are many good reasons why you might consider moving him, but just getting rid of him b/c he's slumping isn't one of them. |

Coburn for Oilers 2nd rounder - vejim
We'll get more than that. Have to hold him hostage. I want 2 2's minimal |

Agreed. That's never a good reason to move someone, tbh. Not even Umberger (contract + age would be the reason to move him). The thing is, slumps end. |

I don't think you want to sell low on him.
I just don't think a trade occurs before January. |

I disagree on the 3rd for Read. He's had a really bad start to the year, but he's been solid over the whole time he's been here. No need for panic moves all over the place... if he got traded in the offseason as part of a larger deal to upgrade d.. fine.. otherwise.. no. |

If the Flyers are out of the playoff picture by the TDL, it wouldn't shock me to see Coburn or Grossmann dealt for picks. I don't think one or two of Coburn, Grossmann and LSchenn will be here in 2 years. - NickTheKid87
I would be fine with any of them leaving. I was a big proponent of Schenn, and I still believe he can transform into a solid 2nd pairing guy, at most.. But if it's in the greater good of the team, ship him out... especially if they can retain MDZ.
Grossman.. as much as I like the guy's physical presence.. has been getting slower and is getting beat more often. I personally think he peaked the last couple years and is now starting his descent. If they can get rid of him now, so be it.
Coburn... well.. he had a good run. But I just don't see him being that anchor potential he used to display. Stupid decisions, lackadaisical defense and positioning, and he completely lost his offensive threat he had for so many years... Again, if they can get something for him now, I say do it. |

And we don't move him unless the other team overpays. As they should at the TDL |

I thought Laughton's play energized Vinny a bit. - johndewar

GM everyone. When G tied it up last night it was awesome! But that last goal was a heartbreaker. Even I wanted to jump through the TV and throttle Schenn and I'm usually just verbaly abusive...
On a more serious note I like that they had more jump last night. And like everyone else I felt Laughton deserved to stay. Hell, anything that pumps Vinny's tires is worth it. And I can merely shake my head at Umberger... He needs to get moving.
Yep I think Hextall is listening to offers for Coburn, Grossmann, L Schenn, and Read.
I really, really like Read, but he hasn't been as effective as he was in past seasons. A lot of his normal jump seems gone and players like Bellemare have filled into the void he left. |

Since Mase has been here he's been fantastic IMO. Not sure that I'd give the advantage to Bob.. i'd say even because they both have to prove themselves more in the playoffs. |

I said it yesterday, and I'll say it again... I don't understand why Read get's such a bad wrap. The guy hustles his butt off every shift, and when he's placed with decent linemates WHO ALSO hustle, he's done well in past years. And shockingly (not), he's off to a slow start and everyone is calling for a trade.
I agree in that he is one of the most moveable pieces... But that doesn't mean it would be a good move. |

All three have their contracts expire after next year and I don't see more than 2 coming back, probably only one though, considering Ghost, Morin, Hagg, Sanheim, etc. should be mostly ready to step in. It's not like Coburn or Grossmann will want short term deals either and Schenn is probably in the same boat.

That's Vinny. You just have to take the occasional good, with the more frequent bad.
Only other recourse is to do what Babcock is doing to Stephen Weiss -- sitting him (and loaning him to Grand Rapids for kicks). |

JVR scored another nice goal last night.. Man he can seriously roof it in close.. seems so effortless too. |

I should probably go back and edit the posts I made saying he would be a good replacement for Laviolette back in the 13-14 offseason. |

I like Read alot. He makes a nice salary for his production level, however. That's really the only reason you consider moving him. He's a good player. But is he a 3 million dollar player? That's dicey. |
