It is not Burns' fault he and Mueller are a mismatched pairing. It is actually not the worst decision in the world for McLellan to keep one leftie and one rightie for each pairing. But I think Vlasic-Burns Mueller-Braun would be a better combination.

Our blueline is horrible besides Vlasic-Braun. Iriwin, Demers, & Hannan are awful complete liabilities they need to be replaced or this seasons going nowhere real fast. We also need a 3rd line center Shep is a 4th liner.

Disclaimer: I have never heard of Brenden Dillon before.

But I personally was a big fan of Demers and my initial reaction is that I do not like this trade. The single biggest reason for Demers' regression has been that they have played him with Hannan. Being stuck with Hannan for 2 years would ruin make a defenceman's career.

At times Demers was a pretty good top 4 d man who got the shaft from a terrible head coach. He will thrive in Dallas. Now to look up info on this Dillon kid...

This season they've both been equally porous with regards to possession, but Dillon has seen tougher competition.

I'm with you on the assessment of his regression. His d-pairing has been lightyears below ideal.
