Good read Lucas

I am also tempted in picking up an extra Dmen. As you know, salary is everything in my pool so any young, cheap guy that can bring a decent amounts of points are valuable. With TVR out for the hawks, I am curious to see what can Clendening do. Good offensive stats in minors and will see his fair share of PP time. Could be worth a gamble.

I'm in a 16 team, 20 players (15 keepers per year) and I have Eberle, Hossa, and Franzen at RW. I just picked up Semin off free agents as he was just dropped. Low risk/high reward if he finds his game.

Would you consider trading a RW and Dman to upgrade another position (like LW) based on the fact that Semin should turn things around one day. Or keep things as is since Semin may not amount to anything and I would deplete my RW depth....

My LWs are Marleau, E. Kane, and Lupul (IR).

I managed to pull off this trade recently:

I gave up Vatanen/Jeff Carter/Foligno and i got Pacioretty/Pavelski/Doughty.

Long term Vatanen will be a stud, and Carter is good for 30 goals a year, but i get 2 solid proven goal scorers and a dman that logs a ton of minutes each night. Foligno was worth more to my trading partner because he had a couple Blue Jackets already. Prime example of selling high i think.

Lucas,

I'm in a very deep rotisserie league and was offered this trade last night:

Nyquist, Toffoli for Callahan, Vrbata

Being that this league is extremely deep is the reason I've held onto Toffoli for so long, waiting for the right trading partner to unload him. I don't mind the return of Callahan and Vrbata (which is damn good in my opinion), but the other person has requested Nyquist in the deal. Given the age of Detroit's superstars, I've got a feeling that Nyquist could put up similar numbers as he did last season, and might be a "keeper" for next season.

Should I make the trade, or should I not?

To be honest I think Semin looks horrible this year. That could change like you said; but i wouldnt put too much stock into selling players based on him turning things around. Carolina as a whole has started to play much better since E staal has returned and likely will get even better when J staal comes back in the new year.

Maybe hold off on trying to upgrade at this point and see how Semin does; if he ups his game, then by all means do so...i just feel a bit more risk than reward at this point in time.

hope that helps !

working the wire i find is the key to success.

quite often you can make a big trade BECAUSE you had a great wire pickup at some point in time.

Vatanen has had a great start to the season and should continue to do so. maybe not quite at the pace hes at now, but certainly QB'ing the Ducks PP doesnt hurt him any.

when lining it up: Vatanen:Doughty Carter/Pacioretty Foligno/Pavelski

I think you did excellent. great trade.

Hey buddy!

Tricky since its a keeper. But considering Vrbata has been excellent w the sedin twins and Callahan is on one of the most explosive offenses in the game...it may just work out.

if you dont want to move one of the two of those guys do you have anyone else you could counter off with and perhaps keep Nyquist? Tough call, I would 100% do the trade if it wasnt a keeper.

tought one partner...maybe fish and see if he would take someone else and pick one of those 2 u like more and keep them.

Keeper league question.

Is Voracek going to maintain this pace (well not league leading, but call it top 10) for the next few years or should I sell high on him now?

Yeah, I already tired getting this person to bite at a different piece. The problem is that this person is heavy at C and LW, so that narrows the pool of what they are willing to take back, and what I'm willing to give.

Thanks for the advice though. I may just do it anyways.

I dont think he will be anywhere close to the top 10 at seasons end.

all depends what return you get, but i would be blown away if he was even top 20.

I went ahead and made the trade. I'm definitely going to try and flip Callahan for an upgrade at center right away. I may hold onto Vrbata for a minute, but I'll end up trying to flip him too.

Thanks for the advice.
