Cheechoo is no longer a hot commodity because he lost the ability to score goals. How is that comparable to looking at Kopitar and Toews. Are they no longer top defensive forwards in the League? - MJL
I am just saying the perception of their defensive prowess comes not only from their own skill, but the situation they are in (strong defensive teams with good checking wingers) |

They are two of the biggest reasons why both teams are so strong defensively.

Far more consistent scorer than Nik was. He doesn't look like it, but he's also a pretty hard worker. - Jsaquella

Richards, Brown, Stoll, Doughty, Mithchell, Quick...
Hossa, Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, Crawford...
Pretty good supporting cast there.

Every good team has a good supporting cast. That does not make a player into a Selke level Forward. |

Kopitar is rated where he is defensively, simply because of how good he is defensively. How good is Couturier considered defensively on the Flyers? - MJL
kopitar is incredible. for all of the grousing about the kings having such a good defensive scheme, he is one of, if not the biggest, reasons for that.
and if people are going to lament the fact that he plays in such a defensive system, then you have to turn around and acknowledge just how offensively talented he is to continuously be in that 70 point plus realm. |

My point was those two teams - LA and Chi - have quite a few reasons why they are solid defensively beyond Toews and Kopitar, unless you're discounting the players I listed above. |

I agree with that. But it was really a comparison of individual players, not teams.

That's what we're here for. Jump away. And if you want to move it in a different direction, why not? All about pucks.

I'd do it for Perron and a pick. I think Perron would really help the Flyers second line be more effective and it'd help the 2nd PP a lot. |

Hurts the defense too much. This team's problem is defense. Not offense. I wouldn't give up a #2 NHL defenseman for a 2nd line Winger. Even if the pick was a 1st.

Flyers likely to go with 7 D tonight, per Dave Isaac-as long as Del Zotto feels well enough to play |
