That may be true but why can't Hall stand up in the dressing room and mention this? The fans know it's his team and so do the players.

I think this is the whole problem, Hall is the obvious captain/leader of the team but it's probably tough for a 20yr old to just walk in and take over. I'll bet there is at least a small issue with youth vs. vets on this team (for quite a few years). It puts Ference in an awkward position and it sucks for the young guys who probably want to be more vocal but perhaps feel that they would be out of line or disrespectful. It's not in Nuge nor Eberle's DNA to bang the drum but Hall probably wants to scream out loud but maybe holds back.

This is why I've been saying they need to trade "whoever it takes" to get that leader. They've tried everything else, I think this is a big issue with EDM. Who are Nuge/Hall/Yak/Eberle/everyotheryoungstud accountable TO? Ference? David Perron? c'mon.

Slide in a Thornton, M.Richards, Backas, Toews type player, slap the C on his sweater and give him a few vets to stand behind him and I think we'd see a different work ethic and cohesiveness from the kids. Schultz is already tainted I think...he doesn't seem to care at all. I would package him out to get this leader (that probably isn't attainable).

Until they actually give Hall the C, he's probably going to be apprehensive to kick ass in the room.

We usually disagree, but not this time. There is evidence enough to suggest that a culture change is needed within the locker room and a guy like you mentioned just might be able to provide such. But in order for such a change to really take affect, I think you'd almost have to change head coaches as well (which I'm still kinda averse to).

If we could magically slot Getzlaf into our #1C spot...it is aaaaalmost a done deal. It's so important, having a stud C to carry the load.

Honestly I'm not even the biggest hall supporter. I think he makes some pretty stupid plays at times. I'd trade him today if it meant a real 1 d was coming back. Don't think any getting moved tho and I don't want to trade him/Ebs/nuge for depth guys etc . If we are trading an impact player I want one coming right back

Im not saying they should trade Hall but they need to trade at least one of the top guys. Things can't get much worse if you do since they have finished at the bottom for at least the last 4 years. The main problem is with the GM, you can't build a team with the same type of players that are top draft picks. They need to make some changes and get some character guys in. And you can't say if you that if you trade hall/ebs/nuge etc that you need an impact player because non of these players have proven anything. Yes they are skilled but a lot of players in the league are skilled.

I agree with your opinion on guys trying to be the hero, doing too much which translates into big steaming piles of poop. Their has to be a fracture or two in that room preventing this thing from righting itself.

I would say that OEL, Doughty, Suter, Giordano and Keith are all as good if not better, with Pietrangelo, McDonough,Subban, Karrlson not in the same class.
