If they just get a little help from the rest of these forwards -- and Schenn is certainly doing his part -- man.
They are looking like they are going to put up monstrous numbers. Hextall has to see that.
Raffl will help when he gets back. But Hextall has to know that when you have two guys going like that, and a PP that is going like it is where it creates chances...
Man. You cannot just let five or six passengers keep you from taking a shot at destiny.
There has to be something out there. There has to be some way to tweak those bottom six forwards, or find someone to help Simmonds be more consistent if you take him off the Couturier line.
Something has to be out there - AllInForFlyers
They need a play making puck carrying LW.

They really miss Raffls two way game. The bottom 6 is somewhat of a mess. Maybe Laughton sticks. Bellamare is solid. Turdberger, VL, Rinaldo, VDV are simply taking up space. - PLindbergh31
With the team as low as it is in the standings I don't see Laughton sticking. Unless they go on a huge run the next few games and he's largely involved in it. |

RJ Hamburglar must sit. Once Raffl comes back I think it would be hard to take B Schenn off that top line. Play Raffl with Laughton and VL.
Bellemare Rinaldo Akeson can be your 4th line. They looked good in the limited time they had early in season.
I would even let Rosehill play a couple games. He will bring an edge and at least he tries every shift. He can skate better than Hamburglar. I know Rosehill is not a long term answer but for a couple games let RJ sit and think. There was a few games last year when this team was down a couple goals and Rosehill went out and pounded someone to give the team life.
I am just done RJ |

I'd be absolutely shocked if Laughton was sent back down. He has improved the team, and his ice time is escalating. The Flyers are 3 points out of the playoffs, with 63 games to play. |

Who is that player? - MJL
Man, Manny Malhotra's playing on a one-year, $850,000 deal, playing 11:34 a night and has won 62 percent of his draws
There are guys out there -- plenty of guys -- who can help the Flyers at an affordable price |

You'd have to trade for that player. And give up an asset.

So? - AllInForFlyers
Why do that? Better off just playing Umberger on the 4th line. And a player like Malhotra is not what they need. They need a playmaking winger who can play on a scoring line.

You're right, 4 goal pace. But what's the difference? - MJL
None. Not for the money. I was just making sure my math skills weren't as rusty as they sometimes seem. |

Why do that?
Because Umberger can't play. Vandevelde can't play. And since there are guys out there who are better than them who can be found, then it's Hextall's job to find them.
Pissing away a prime season of Voracek/Giroux -- in other words, the players who actually CAN play -- so you can be "better off playing players who can't get the job done" is absolutely asinine.
That's why. |

Not a whole ton of LWs like that out there that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.
I still like Ladd a lot but re-signing him puts the team in a pinch unless they can clear a good deal of room elsewhere.
If the Flames begin to faulter Jiri Hudler is a guy I would have serious interest in. He's played very well over the last year and a half. |

I disagree with that. Both can play on the 4th line. It's asinine to give up a future asset instead of just going with what you have right now for the 4th line, and dealing with it. Adding a Molhotra is seriously going to change this team's outlook in terms of contending for the cup this year? So that they won't waste a year of Voracek? The Flyers could add the best 4th line player in the League, they aren't winning the Cup. |

Which is why when Raffl gets back, demote Umberger to the 4th line, and roll with it. If a minor move is available, make it. But don't give up any significant future assets just to fix this year.
The Flyers may have a defenseman to deal, so maybe they can get a decent player there in return.

"Dealing with it?" What does that mean, exactly?
You're paying Claude Giroux 8.25 million dollars to potentially miss the playoffs -- and the reason that would happen is because you're playing too many players who can't play -- so you can "deal with it?"
Steve Mason has a SVPCT of around .940 in his last eight starts. You want to waste that kind of goaltending so you can continue to play players who can't play and "deal with it?"
Mark Streit turns 37 years old in TWO WEEKS. He's done everything you can ask of the player, especially at his age. You want to risk missing the playoffs by playing guys who can't play so you can "deal with it?'
"Dealing with it" means getting rid of the guys who can't play, not pretending you can hide them on the fourth line.

Equally hilarious that Columbus turned Voracek into Jack Johnson. That's pretty embarrassing.
Jake has been awesome this year. Almost 1/4 of the season down, and he's leading the NHL in scoring. I don't think he will keep up this unconscious pace, but I think he'll finish in the top 5 if he plays a full season. - PLindbergh31
I keep saying that too about Jake slowing down, but at what point do we start saying, hey, he's gonna be in the top 10 in league scoring at the end of the year.. He's consistently been great and shows no signs of slowing. |
