"Dealing with it?" What does that mean, exactly?
You're paying Claude Giroux 8.25 million dollars to potentially miss the playoffs -- and the reason that would happen is because you're playing too many players who can't play -- so you can "deal with it?"
Steve Mason has a SVPCT of around .940 in his last eight starts. You want to waste that kind of goaltending so you can continue to play players who can't play and "deal with it?"
Mark Streit turns 37 years old in TWO WEEKS. He's done everything you can ask of the player, especially at his age. You want to risk missing the playoffs by playing guys who can't play so you can "deal with it?'
"Dealing with it" means getting rid of the guys who can't play, not pretending you can hide them on the fourth line. - AllInForFlyers
Because it's hyperbole to say that they can't play on the 4th line. They can. Bringing in another 4th line player isn't going to change anything. Dealing with it means limiting his role, and limiting his icetime. And playing players like Raffl and Laughton more. For this season atleast, Umberger is here. Unless he's traded or waived and demoted. Both of which are doubtful. They don't have other players that ideally would be a fit right now. Why bring up a young player to play on the 4th line in limited icetime. Remove the emotion and look at it logically.
Any deals made where significant assets are moved should be made for the future, not for this year. |

I keep saying that too about Jake slowing down, but at what point do we start saying, hey, he's gonna be in the top 10 in league scoring at the end of the year.. He's consistently been great and shows no signs of slowing. - Hextall271
Over his last 82 games, Voracek has 84 points, 4th in NHL in that span |

Trouble is, how can you get rid of them? I can't think of any GM that takes Vinny or Umberger off your hands for free. Maybe, if they trade a guy like Coburn they could take less in return to lose them, but otherwise, they're staying.
It'd rather see them buried, too. Berube won't do that, so here we are.

Stay the course. I like the idea of Umberger on the 4th line wince he's virtually uintradable like Hartnell was without taking back a bad contract. |

I agree with you in principle, but I doubt there's any one move they can make that is going to make them a contender. However moving a guy like L Schenn for a solid winger or a mid round pick for a 4th line upgrade would be nice. |

Is it safe to assume that Giroux is one of the guys in front of him? |

Yeah
heck, I'd trade L Schenn to Edmonton for a 3rd if they would also take Umberger off our hands |

That might be the only way they can move one of them, even then, it might require cash eating |

If they even do just those two things, that would be tremendous GM work
I'm not asking Hextall to acquire Rick Nash. I'm asking for him to make it so Chris Vandevelde is not an option |

can I say that I really like Laughton in his limited time up on the big club. |

Most likely. I'm really starting to think they just bite the bullet and buyout Umberger after this year. Its not optimal, but it may be the only option left
VLC might be tradeable after 7/2/15 if they can find a team thats weak up the middle and struggling to reach the cap floor |

I know we're not talking about the same guy but the connection is obvious.
Me and my brother just yell FLETCHA CAHHHX all the time and we think it's hilarious. Just not even when he makes a good play- just every time he makes a play.
My boring, useless short story is now over. I hope you guys enjoyed it. |
