Because Umberger can't play. Vandevelde can't play. And since there are guys out there who are better than them who can be found, then it's Hextall's job to find them.

Pissing away a prime season of Voracek/Giroux -- in other words, the players who actually CAN play -- so you can be "better off playing players who can't get the job done" is absolutely asinine.

obviously i try to get it back as quickly as possible - it's really a split second decision - if i can get it back or not depending on where it is and where the puck is, and if not i'm probably not in a wide stance. i can't think of a single time when a dman gave me his stick.

I like this lineup a lot more if Read starts scoring

I want to believe in Scott Laughton, but as a rookie, it's not fair to expect him to center a line that will produce enough to offset the horror that is that fourth line
