Benn, Nash, Ovechkin. Hall is top 5 with Parise rounding it out too.

D. Sedin doesn't have the speed but he is very smart player.

I wouldn't put Nash as better, but that's a solid top 5.
- lumlums

i like his list too. although im not sure nash is better.

either way, the troll who attempted to start the debate got too many hits out of it already.... pacioretty

what happened to the intelligent trolls who could actually keep a lively debate going with solid points and rational arguments?
theres so few of those around. trolls just mostly seem to be dimwitted window lickers. i suppose its not a coincidence.
kinda sucks

i miss prock. he was a solid troll imo

Before this season I would agree that Hall > Nash but this season Nash has been all-world. But yea, these types of rankings change basically on a month to month basis. There was one stretch last year where Sharp was considered a top 5 winger in the game when he was lighting the league up but that slowly faded away.
- RAGSareDANGERus

And that's why although Nash has been better this year, I think that Hall is better overall.

I don't watch him play too often so I often underrate him. He could very well be up on that list based on what I've heard about him but again, I just don't watch him enough.

Some players have no issues playing either wing, others just can't adjust. There is a special skill to play one side or the other, if you're a left handed left wing you can pass using your forehand. If you get switched to the right wing, you need to use your backhand. Much, much harder. But hockey is so fluid that players are constantly cycling.
- RAGSareDANGERus

I get that players are better suited for certain sides based on which hand they shoot with but it's not a completely different game when you get moved from one side to the other. Not like switching from center to wing.

ya they picked him purely because of his "highend" skill-set - really

If you don't know or understand why they picked him then maybe you should move along and let the adults talk?

He's more of a passer now than a shooter, definitely skilled, but the younger guys are passing him by now.

Nash is the better defensive player though and while Hall has had some explosive offensive seasons, he hasn't broken 30 goals yet. He probably breaks them if he plays a full 82 every year though. Nash has 7 30+ goal seasons, 2 40+ goal seasons, and is on pace for another 40+ one.

But if I'm the Rangers GM and EDM calls me up and offers me Hall for Nash straight up, then I accept it.

Hall is like Kessel.

Unreal at putting up pts, and offensively top 10.... but does that alone win you games when they matter? I still question his character as a leader.

I believe Eberle has the heart and determination to lead this team with Hall taking over the offensive load, but don't kid yourself... Hall is far away from being elite with the exception of pts alone. BUT if the argument is by player comparision vs Hall... Tatar/Nyquist are not even close, but both are champions at a pro level (AHL) and that proved worthy last year when half of the Griffins got the Wings into the playoffs.

that is EXACTLY what Hall is missing.

True, it often just takes an adjustment period. Rangers tried moving Gaborik to his off-wing and after 40 games, he was still terrible and looked great the second we moved him back to RW. Nash has no issues with it. Ovechkin went through a 20ish game adjustment period where he wasn't really doing much and then got used to it and exploded. It really depends on the player.

Yup. Back when you guys got to the SCF he was arguably the best LW in the game. Now he seems to have just lost a bit of footspeed.

Nash is better defensively every year. He doesn't try to do too much. Hall is Oilers best player.

Of course. Plus it was always about the twins together, and the fact that the whole was greater than the sum of the parts purely on how well they could move the puck.

Nash is a great defensive player. He's a regular PKer and many of his goals this year have come from takeaways in the neutral zone.

eberle is not the guy over hall. for sure not. ebs is the complimentary scorer type that's gonna go silent for stretches, its just hus game. those guys are integral to winning as well, but not your leaders and cornerstones.
maybe nuge, but hes the quiet type.
this is halls team. but all of these kids need some roster help to eke out some wins and learn how to close games even when ur not playing ur A game.

halls defensive warts are overstated. his passing is way underrated.
hes a great player and elite imo

Good for him if he's improved; I remember him seeing him in Columbus and he was pretty weak.
