That's a sad and painful truth. Trust me , an Oilers tank is probably the right move....but man....were getting tired of this poop. - Jeropotato
Ya I hear ya on that but i think the management needs to go first and start fresh as a first step then identify what core player you wana keep. Hall, drasalti, yakapov and move the rest. |

Ya for got to add him..allot of valuable parts on oilers..i think toronto has some players that could help them too..we laugh at phenough..but I think he would be well suited there...but to be honest with latest issues in toronto I question his leadership and don't know if oilers would want him with their young crew.. - bazookajo

Not sure I agree with your list of keepers but I can agree with the thought process. |

tbh the leafs need to trade for myers he is what we need. Hes only 24 coming into his prime would fit right in to the age of our team. people say you need to draft those guys but we did it with kessel and it worked out ok. Plus not like there is a 6'7" D in the first round this year. - jake24242
seguin and hamilton for kessel worked out ok? |

As I said last night, I'm probably going to unplug a bit from the Oilers if they tank another season and get McDavid.
Even though when you really think about it, by no right does any team particularly deserve a player, I feel like the Oilers extra don't deserve him
Two years ago, We all thought a team featuring Nuge, Hall, Eberle and Yakupov could be a perennial success. To a certain extent I still believe a team featuring some of those guys can reach those heights, but I feel like the conspicuous absence of a dman among that group needs to be permanently addressed over the next couple of months.
If they wait till the summer while they tank, draft McDavid, and THEN trade a forward for defensive help, I feel like that shows an organization lacking in character.
I feel like the team would rather feel like they're trying to win now, even if it costs them the next shiny teammate. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the kind of team I'd want to cheer for. |

And I don't want to point fingers, but Chabot hired an assistant at the beginning of last year I.E. just coincidentally on the eve of the apocalypse. I hope they're both gone. |

If I may chime in (you don't have a choice really unless Yeti deletes me) - this whole mess is absolutely a collective issue, a combination of players, coaching and management.
My opinion is it falls squarely at the feet of the men who picked the players they did and the complete lack of later round picks that add depth to the organization. That said, it's time for Katz to clean house, starting with Kevin Lowe and Dallas Eakins.
Most intelligent hockey people, NHL people and otherwise, know you build through the middle of the ice, this is not an unknown Craig McTavish?? The kids they have a very talented but lack the knowledge or leadership to play a structured game, get rid of that coach and trade valuable assests like Hall for a good two-way young NHL center...easier said than done I know. |

I think they should do something to try and win. Of course don't ruin the future but make a trade to get better not worse.

Agreed. And I really feel like it's tough to call a trade a loss if you get better, even if you give up more value. |

The team can fix it with some trades and firings. Only if Edmonton has the balls to make a deal. Where is Burke when you need him. |

I don't think organizational depth is a problem as much as that none of the 3-7 round picks have provided any special value.
Most teams have a guy or two that's exceeded expectations from later rounds.
The closest two we've had to that are Teemu Hartikainen and Linus Omark.
If you can never count on anyone other than 1st and 2nd round picks to make the NHL from your team, you're in tough.

Guys totally lost in all this is that Keith Aulie had his best of the year last night |

Robin Lehner, Marc Methot and Zack Smith for Hall and Scrivens.
Oilers get their #1 goalie, a top pairing D-man, and a gritty 3rd line centre. |

Can't wait to see the package coming back that's really gonna help turn this the my around. - Jeropotato
You gotta address your weaknesses. We have at least 10 NHL ready defensemen. Two of those prospects are sure hits.
Pouliot (Gonchar/B.Campbell like), Harrington (Martin/Girardi like), Dumoulin (Ehrhoff/P.Kuba like)
The obvious suspects in Martin (FA, doubt he'd waive his NTC) and Scuderi.
And we have a physical/good skating d-man in Bortuzzo (Orpik like)
We have a need for a Top 6 forward...is Perron a "legit" top 6? |

Horrible, horrible deal. Ask yourself if you'd trade Hall for this package |
