How about this then:
Lehner, Methot, Stone and a 2nd. - maaddmike
I'll give you Perron for that... But not hall... Ever...

How much less would the Oilers want for Yakupov instead of Hall? I have to admit I have not seen him play much. I just read all the negative stuff about him.
Would Methot and a 2nd do it? |

Doubtful. Given his draft position, I feel the Oilers feel a responsibility to get the best out of him. Bear in mind that he's still very young, and no less talented than when he was drafted. I'd be interested to see what he could do with a different coach. |

Sam Gagner 21GP 9 points 50.8% CF 49.3% FO
Mark Arcobello 21GP 8 points 49.7% CF 50.2% FO
Can anyone identify which one is the complete loser single-handedly dragging our team down and which is the underrated rough gem who's our future 2nd line centre? |

I disagree. Lehner would be the key piece. He will be a starting goalie for the next 10 years. If Edmonton wants to turn things around that is the first thing they need to address. - maaddmike
Not by trading there best player in Hall. |

I'm not on the fire Lowe train, but he needs to hold MacT accountable. If Eakins isn't fired Kevin Lowe needs to replace Mac T. If his idea is to replace Mac T with Howson then if I'm Katz I fire Lowe. - Jeropotato

Lowe has shown nothing imo i think thats where you start replacing |

Capuano is too low for a guy who's got his team at the top of the pops now that he has a couple of decent defenceman and a goalchie... same with Hartley...
The Isles and Flames have taken the few top picks they got and built around them by trading pieces strategically here and there. Unlike the Oil who seem to think they can just draft their way out of the basement.
Schultz, Eberle, and maybe a couple of other young players would bring some real veteran pieces they could use to build around Hall and Nuge and Yak... a couple of real dman would be a start. - kaptaan
Sorry but Giodano is a HUGE factor to the Flames success... we don't have a competent #1 or #2 dman and that is the tipping point to wins and losses- that and they signed Hiller instead of well Fasth and Scrivens... |

Lowe should have been fired but instead Katz gave his buddy a token upper level job where he is somewhat removed from media exposure or direct team operations... |

Kevin Lowe is a prime reason you're in the mess you're in!! As a small example, in 2011 they picked Daivd Musil, because his father worked for the Oilers I'm guessing, instead of picking a kid like Boone Jenner who was ranked top 30 and had a great to very good scouting report on him...this is why you're in this mess.
"The fourth overall selection from the 2009 OHL Priority Draft averaged more than a point per game in regular season and playoff action, including seven goals in ten playoff games. Strengths - Exemplary work ethic and leadership qualities, fights through everything. Strong desire to succeed, has a physical edge to his game. Keen hockey sense, above average vision, anticipation and playmaking abilities, plays in all situations. Weaknesses - Skating is not great, short stride and a wide track, can't stop and start very well. NHL Upside - Will be a favourite of his coaches wherever he plays. Has the desire to succeed that leads most to believe he will overcome skating deficiencies. Will likely wear a letter for an NHL team some day." |

I will firmly state this... Hall, Nuge, Perron and Yak to a lesser degree due to role deployment and ice time along with Drai but he is a rookie - these 5 are the only ones that truly give a (frank)... Hall standing up for Drai after he was leveled from behind was the first time I saw pushback and standing up for teammates and getting dirty in 8 (frank)ING years.. |

Is anyone really that surprised?
You can have a Justin Schultz or Jordan EBerle psy-footing it around out there IF you have an experienced core to fill the holes they create.
You can have a Taylor Hall taking too many selfish one-on-twos IF you have an experienced core to fill the hole that he creates.
You can slot in a promising rookie Centerman like Leon IF you have an experienced set of wingers to soften his missed defensive assignments.
You can have a defense of 6 men that are 3or4 slot defensemen IF you have a responsible group of forwards to pick up the slack.
You can have a good but not great 'tender IF the whole team buys in defensively and limits the high percentage shots he gets.
Most teams have one or two of these issues and they eventually carry their young guys through their system. Edmonton has THEM ALL. WTF? To me it is almost like Lowe and MacT don't realize what Huddy, Simpson, Hunter, McLelland, Graves, Buchberger, Muni, Gregg, Tikannen, Lumley, etc. did for the Oilers of the 80s. It's like they think Messier and Gretzky did it all. I'm starting to think the current OIlers GM just doesn't "get it". - JLO961

Agreed. There's simply not many guys who give a (frank) on the Oilers... That's CLEAR to anyone who is actually watching these games.
If they played with heart and actually gave a damn, I wouldn't even mind the losing... It's the obvious lack of effort that really brings my piss to a boil. |
