What time is the presser??? Many claimed last night that there was a presser coming for today... - saskoil21
I say this a lot, but the fans of this team deserve better than they've gotten
It's not a crime to get your doors blown off by the Blackhawks -- when they get rolling, they're tough to stop
But what makes me empathize with the Oilers fanbase right now is that it's just not right that nothing game-changing has been done for this team that gets a fresh set of eyes on this thing
I've got nothing against Eakins, or MacT, or Lowe, or anybody out there. But it isn't working and the fans deserve better than this, as a whole
Ray Shero's out there. Pay him for one season just to consult. Be creative. Find someone who is qualified to just look at the team from the outside, no pressure, just look at them and offer recommendations
There has to be something that can be done so the fans have some hope that the people who have put this team in this position aren't necessarily going to be the people who try to get them out of it

Well I predict he's not going to be in the job for long from here on out. Maybe you'll see some emotion at that press conference. - Morris
The only time I've ever seen him show emotion and communicate with a player was when he got a few drops of Gatorade on him. |

Beaulieu, eller and 2nd for eberle
Or swap in timordi for beaulieu. Want a stay at home big body or a puck moving d. Personally i think beaulieu and shultz wpuld be a fantastic pairing.
Or maybe eller and 2nd for yaks.

That quote is 100% true though... Krueger was (frank)ed over. - laughs2907
Did you know that Kreuger's soccer team is 2nd in the Premier League? |

Eller is a big body and playing well in his role, why would you change that? Canadiens are 3rd in GF? |

Seems like he's been successful at everything he's ever done. |

I would do that proposal... It gives us options in 2 positions we are weak in... Ebs well I loved the man- but you gotta give to get... |

if this were Montreal,
there would be no more Lowe or MacT or Eakins or Chabot.
But it is Edmonton so ... |

agree- not sure what MacT was thinking but he wanted to stamp his mark on the team I guess. |

If it were Montreal Lowe would have been gone long ago so MacT would not have been able to come back in the first place... |

If I may chime in (you don't have a choice really unless Yeti deletes me) - this whole mess is absolutely a collective issue, a combination of players, coaching and management.
My opinion is it falls squarely at the feet of the men who picked the players they did and the complete lack of later round picks that add depth to the organization. That said, it's time for Katz to clean house, starting with Kevin Lowe and Dallas Eakins.
Most intelligent hockey people, NHL people and otherwise, know you build through the middle of the ice, this is not an unknown Craig McTavish?? The kids they have a very talented but lack the knowledge or leadership to play a structured game, get rid of that coach and trade valuable assests like Hall for a good two-way young NHL center...easier said than done I know. - LeftCoaster
I agree. But you have to take the BPA and be willing to trade him for those foundation pieces. You can reverse the work by trading Hall. |

Why should any of our goalies listen to Frédéric Chabot anyway? He was absolutely horrible in the NHL. What could he possibly do to help our goalies? Maybe by telling them what not to do I guess? Why can't we get a retired goalie who was actually good? |

Oilers presser this morning. Yesssssss. Knee-jerk moves are the best kind of moves. When they don't involve your team, of course. |

Is it really a knee-jerk move when the team has struggled and this core clearly isn't working for multiple years? |

Yes, but i think for down the stretch well need sme scoring on the wings. Galchenyuk can move to center. That said if nothing happened id be happy. But i love the oil and could see this deal helping both teams. |

I'm not Cam Davie, I didn't tweet that...but yes I agree, it's been going on for long enough!! Although I don't really care as a Canuck fan, but as a hockey fan you don't like to see what's going on there happen. |

4 coaches in 5 years suggests problems beyond the coaching staff. |

I feel for the Oiler fans, that exhibition last night was bad. At least when the Hawks played Buffalo, the Sabres looked like they were playing with passion, and trying to win. They are not very skilled, but they try.
I have no idea how to fix the hot mess that is the Oil, but watching last night, they looked like they could use a few solid professional hockey players, not all the 1st round picks that are looking to score goals but don't help out in the D-zone.
Krueger & Smith are a couple of the type of players you could use. They bust their ass along the walls, win way more than half the puck battles, kill penalties, and work their asses off every shift. They are bottom line guys, always will be, but the coach is never afraid to put them out on the ice.
Good luck the rest of the way, it's going to be a long 60 games. |

The focus now should not be on trades (there are too many holes) but rather on acquiring a management and coaching staff that have a proven record of helping young players develop. |

Agreed.
Both can consider themselves quite hard done to. Personally, as a guy who cheers for the Oilers for 80 games per year, I think that they need to get rid of Lowe. They also need to trade one of the big guys to bring in some defensive talent who can play now. |
