As others have said, the Eagles are 1st in their division. When they lose the Wildcard game the Flyers bandwagon will be full of angry and upset Eagles fans
- Jsaquella

The "Flyers bandwagon" is always full of drunk, uninformed Eagles fans.

I was talking about the people who are actually Flyers fans first and foremost. I mean, I go to the games, and even when they're winning, I find myself bored a lot more than I did with several other incarnations. Maybe it's because I know it doesn't matter in the end (like in 06/07), but there's no energy to the games any more.

He played 79 games that year in his last season in Toronto.

Which would make sense... The 4th day I thought he was scratched was actually still 1/17/12 just reported on the 24th.

So three times that season.. Thought I remembered more. Ill blame that on Umberger too.

Part of it is the cost, the constant barrage of noise, the fact that the team is in transition...It's hard to be happy paying Cadillac prices for a Chevy, especially when the dealership spends every second you're not test driving the car trying to sell you stuff or blast you out of your seat with over amplified poopty music

Not really related to anything, but:

It seems like the city doesn't care about this current Flyers team more than usual. It seems like this team has no "identity" as people would say. No one cares about this particular collection of players. Sure, there's Giroux and Voracek, and there's Simmonds and other good players. But the city really connected with the LOD days, the 09/10 team, and even the 11/12 team.

My dad went to the Lindros/LeClair induction and left after the first. He said the Flyers were playing really well, but he just didn't feel like he was missing anything by staying. Obviously, success on the ice would help, but even still, it kinda feels off, like no one really cares what happens, and I think it's even affecting me. It's great that the Flyers won 4-2, but it was a half-hearted cheer when they did.

I don't know exactly what I'm saying because I can't find the right words. But do you guys have the same kinda feeling?

- jmatchett383

Part of it is the fatigue that sets in from mediocrity.

And yeah, the Eagles are 8 - 3, with a big Thanksgiving showdown against the hated Cowboys.

I've always felt like people who don't live and die with the Flyers really don't start following until after New Year's anyway.

It's likely a combination of all of these things.

uh, wtf are you talking about? How is anybody supposed to enjoy the Flyers experience without the music and the games and the ads and the excitement? Without it we'd all just be looking down at the ice watching a hockey game, and litrily nobody wants that

All sarcasm aside.. I'm glad the NHL hasn't adopted the "slap ads and banners all over the equipment" motto yet. That's friggin ugly.. and stupid...

I read a TSN report not too long ago saying that it was almost in writing.. so soon enough

EDIT: Here is one link -saying no- from back in Sept.

Bettman also threw cold water on the possibility that advertisements are coming to NHL jerseys sooner than later. It might be inevitable because of the money available, Bettman conceded, but the league isn't in any rush.

Once the NBA does it (and they will likely be the first...I don't count MLS), Hockey will follow suit. You watch.

And hockey people are gonna be PISSED.

Oh, I know.. They've discussed it the past few seasons already. And money always talks the loudest... I say we'll see them within 4 years, for sure.

"We'll watch what's going on with other sports and the magnitude of the opportunity," Bettman said. "But it's not something that we're focused on right now because, frankly, I think we've got the best uniforms in all of sports. I think this is one of those where we're never going to be an initiator.

"We may get dragged kicking and screaming, but it's not something that's a front-burner for us."

FWIW

So, are they just artificially lowering expectations and exceeding them by mentioning it, or is downplaying this the same as downplaying the unlikely/inevitable expansion?

That was one thing I kinda liked about going to Fenway Park. They didn't have a bunch of poop going on between innings. You literally just sat there and watched the teams take grounders. It actually encouraged conversation with people around you which I thought was cool.

They still have that dumbass sweet Caroline thing in the 8th inning. Makes no sense

Not to mention they got rid of the scantily-clad ice girls. How can one enjoy hockey without B-grade girls in skimpy clothing skating around for 30 seconds during every TV timeout?

Let me translate that last sentence: They are waiting for another league (cough, NBA, cough) to do it first.
