Him staying an Oiler. - StoopLemur
How creative ....just look at all the teams who have been successful with their best player being a winger ...center depth strong D and goaltending rank ahead of a high end winger ...ask Iggy, kessel , ovie how their teams did
Not saying trading hall is the answer but not trading him might not be either

honestly i think RNH is more of an untouchable now than hall, purely because he is a 1C. Since we have terrible center depth, they can't trade him without getting great center depth back. - massa_3
I totally agree. Id keep RNH over Hall... and Hall would get a better return for Oils |

Sure but we have other pieces to move before we ship off our top player so this argument is pointless. |

Oilers will have to overpay if they want to play.
Or by all means remain status quo. |

So are you saying it took oil leadership 15 years to realize there was a problem? Maybe the issues go way beyond the goalie coach? Maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with the quality of players drafted. Last time I checked the goalie coach doesn't manage the draft. - bloatedmosquito
All he is saying is that this is ONE of the moves that had to be made. its not the only, and its certainly not the most important, but it is a necessary move. We haven't developed goalies for a myriad of reasons, one being the lack of an AHL team up until recently (some good Klowe did). That being said with every goalie that has been brought in (internal promotion or externally) has regressed from their former team. That falls on the goalie coach's abilities.
You argue the draft being terrible, but i think the last 5 years have been pretty good. The past drafts were on prendergast and the oilers rightfully fired him after all that futility. Now that its been about 5 years under Stu, we can start to see if that's the problem. |

My list would probably have in no particular order:
Weber
Doughty
Chara
Subban
Giordano
Keith
Karlsson
Pietrangelo
OEL
Suter
McDonagh
Hedman
Seabrook
Shattenkirk
Schultz (Just kidding)
with honorable mentions to Vlasic and Kronwall - StoopLemur
There's lots of guys like Vlasic, Hamhuis, Kronwall, Letang, Boychuk, Hamilton, Seabrook, Fowler, Josi etc. that could be mentioned in the same breath as OEL IMO.

If trading him is an answer, then trading Eberle/Perron/Yakupov/picks/prospects instead to get what we need is probably a better answer. |

"Scraps" is kind to Vinny Lecavalier and Schenn. But Read and Coburn are very good (not great) players. |

But seriously, Hall will not be moving anytime soon. Look at trading Ebs, Perron, Petry, Arco, Lander, Gernat, Musil, the rest of the farm team, lander's potential, 2016 picks, water bottles, the bench and a bag of pucks |

I'm just gonna have to disagree. I'd still put him in "elite" even if he's having a prolonged drought. But, whatever. |

Brodie is great, but the only reason he is on that list is pure homerism. Gio for sure, but Brodie? yea, no. |

Maybe so, but league-wide, Hall would command more in return than RNH. Probably a lot more. - jmatchett383
i agree with this, but ultimately its up to the oilers to decide who they value more. i think both are very unlikely to be traded. we can debate whether that is right or wrong, but its most likely the feeling in the oilers staff |
