I suppose if I'm interested in Anisimov, I'm essentially interested in a similar kind of player in Berglund. High value package we'd be sending out though - Morris
Uggghhh...too much for Berglund...i'd send Perron back to St. Louis for Berglund though...

Are we talking about the short sighted trolling canuck posters who said 5 years ago that the Oilers were an old boys club that were ruining the once mighty franchise? Nothing will change for this franchise until Lowe and MacT are history. A new GM/President will bring in his own coach so that will solve the Eakins issue as well. - we_are_all_canucks
Ahhhhh cute. You read the Oilers threads (garners so second tier) to see if you are mentioned so you can get butthurt and retort. That is pretty neat. Wasn't Mac't somewhere in the Casucks organization in the last 5 years??? |

Not that. Kane, a RW, is not a solution to the team needs. Neither is Ladd the LW. Bogo can help. |

Actually, the reluctance of MacT & the Oil to trade any of the "core" is preventing a trade for players we really need. - haymac
Do you have any proof that MacT & the Oil have any reluctance to trade any of the core? Or just assume so? Perhaps the offers are ridiculous? |

DNot think Leddy is much of an add, plus we didn't have the cap space to take Boychuck and Boston wasn't taking any cap back, and Mac T was still unsure of his Center ice depth and needed the space so......suck it? - Jeropotato
Gotta say, I was not high on leddy before the trade and wasn't terribly excited by it. I have been blown away by leddys game. He's been solid defensively, fantastic on the rush and is a much better player than I expected. He's a solid top four for us. Very impressed with him. |

Good for you guys. On the Oilers he'd just be a liability. |

Hope things get sorted, you guys are an offseason like ours away from taking the next step, we were both in similar places. Oilers fans deserve better, hate seeing you guys struggle. |

Gawd, I remember my reaction to signing Nik. Columbus gave up on him at the end of the season and was sent off to the press box, but MacT gives him big bucks, long-term. That just illustrates both his inexperience and perhaps his desperation as a rookie GM IMO.
I felt the same way about Purcell. He's been driving T.B Fans crazy with his soft play and although he has size and can dangle, he's been pretty ineffective in Tampa so they were happy to see him go.
I thought MacT did fine with getting Pouliot & Fayne as more of the type of player who could help us, even if he did have to pay a premium to get them---that's ok. - haymac
You could of had Purcell for nothing. TB said they were going to buy him out. But because of his age Gagne was cheaper to buy out. You could of got purcell while keeping Gagne. Gagne is a soft player but still a capable center. |

I think people would be a little happier if we had made the playoffs in the shortened season instead of crashing hard at the end to knock us out of the spot. |

You are absolutely right. Chabot did need to go since everyone who has played under him seemed to develop bad habits. But the fact that the management team that needs to be fired immediately hired the new guy, probably puts the Oilers right back where they started. The team will never improve until there is accountability from top to bottom. It is sad to say, but this gongshow could go on for years to come. |

Does nobody realive that at some point, every person in the NHl, whether its a player, coach, assistant, had no NHL experience?
Sure, typically the person starts in a smaller position and works their way up, but to blast a guy that is being brought in temporarily isn't proper.
Saying Schwartz isn't going to do anything is like saying a substitute teacher is why you don't have a 4.0 GPA. |

Capable of what?? We dont miss Gags- he was small- weak- poopty on draws- I like Leon- just wish we had a #2 for now as Leon as a #3 would work Leon is decent as a rookie on draws he works down low- and has hands - the guy has alot of potential- little more muscle in the off season and weight- footspeed needs work also but its just going to take a bit more time... Quite possibly in 3 years he could push RNH to #2... |

Doesn't solve our problems but is an upgrade at Center and D and makes Schultz even more expendable. I say do it. |

Eberle + Jultz = Bergland + Shattenkirk + Gunnarson? Think we could toss them Nikitin? |

So they even itout with a prospect or pick? Shattenkirk is better than Jultz, so why have two of them? Gunnarson is a much upgraded LHD and can replace Nikitin no problem. Perhaps we could lure Steve Ott out of it as well?
Again, Eberle is the main piece and it's revolving around Bergland and Shattenkirk:
Eberle + Jultz + Nikitin +? = Bergland + Shattenkirk + Gunnarson + Ott? + ?? |
