I've heard fire the coach from tons of non oiler fans.
But there are a few oiler fans that believe it's hugely roster, development, intangibles as much as coaching too.
trying to pigeon hole all oiler fans as blind doesn't prove much brah - hugefemale dog77

I'm just saying, team wasn't any worse under Kruger but at least you had some good things you could point out, something to cheer for. Never had any issues with his player usage either. But that's just me I guess - SpoiledByOil

Yea, 2 years of puck luck because our shooting percentage on the PP was ridiculously higher than the best PP in the league right? Just completely unsustainable |

Even with all of this trying to maybe kinda sorta make some sense out his stupid moves, you still haven't told me 1 single thing he's done that has been good. - SpoiledByOil
Yaks needs to do more than ' play hard' to deserve more ice time. He needs to score. And he's not. The rest of his game getting better is nice. No longer a complete defensive liability is nice. But saying he's improved those things isn't enough to deserve top line mins. He needs way more work on his shot and getting to the open areas. Why would we limit ebs ice time when he's on pace for 60 points and yaks is on pace for 30 ish.
Ebs has proven he deserves more ice time by scoring more.
Ebs is a better scorer and he's proven it. Period.
And yeah, Aulie was bad in preseason. But he wasn't horrific in a few of the games he played in reg season. And no worse than Marincin was before he got scratched. But also brought a more physical game like Eakins wanted. We can argue how usefull it was or not. But it doesn't matter cause he was no more directly at fault for the losses than mm was before he got scratched. But a coach benching a young guy for not bringing what the coach asks is something new???!
And I didn't kinda sorta make sense of the moves. I did make sense of them. U just chose to disagree and not admit the logic to all of them.
Which is fine. But by disagreeing it doesn't somehow make your point stronger.
and of course it's easier to point to wrong than right. They're not winning. So how can one say "well heres a slam dunk good move"..?
But his moves haven't been egregiously bad imo. And I felt I proved it.
And in fact, alot of his moves have been extremely standard and within the box so to speak. Maybe that's the problem. But I don't think you're eluding to that at all. Ur attempting to use hindsight to point out losses as some sort of huge mistake he's made. And as u well know, in alot of cases, I flat out disagree. |

Krueger's Oilers pp
PP%: 20.1% (8th)
Shots for%: 83.5% (25th)
CF%: 82.9% (29th)
FF%: 81.7% (28th)
PDO: 113.9 (4th)
Eakins' Oilers PP
PP%:
13-14: 17.0% (21st)
14-15: 13.0% (25th)
Shots for%
13-14: 82.1% (27th)
14-15: 85.7% (14th)
CF%:
13-14: 85.5% (28th)
14-15: 89.5% (12th)
FF%:
13-14: 83.1% (28th)
14-15: 88.1% (11th)
PDO:
13-14: 97.2 (27th)
14-15: 89.6% (29th)
I'm beginning to think our PP has been bad for at least 3 years. Krueger's did much much better, but in terms of the chances we were getting/allowing, I'm somewhat reluctant to praise too too much.
Not saying Eakins is excused from his terrible special teams coaching mind you. If there's one phase of the game the Oil should be good at, it's the PP. But I'd have to do some more investigating without the fog of hindsight to determine whether Krueger actually coached a strong PP or whether it just happened to get good bounces. |

It's easier to point to insignificant moves that coaches of good teams make which incrementally contribute to wins than it is to point to significant moves that coaches of bad teams make which truly contribute to strong play despite a loss.
- Like sheltering Draisaitl and Yak
- Or putting Pouliot with Nuge and Ebs
- Or leaning on the Hendricks-Gordon-Joensuu/Pinizotto line despite all analytic evidence last year suggesting it was broken
- Or strategically deploying Gordon on the powerplay.
Now, those things didn't contribute to wins, so who cares? But I'd like to remind everyone that that's a classic troll's argument we reject when it's about Taylor Hall. "So what if he's a PPG? Doesn't help the oilers out of the basement". |

It's not that we generally agree when we discuss hockey. Which we certainly do.
It's the skills you have in your use of logic and your ability to convey your opinions in such a way that make it extremely difficult to completely discount whether one chooses to agree or not.

Haha. I try to be as realistic as possible and take the wide angle view of things....but some of these guys are not worth the effort. For those guys I usually just tell them to go (frank) themselves or call their post Derptacular. |

Great pass from eberle to hall. Just felt like the oilers had no passion.no big hits, no real scrums aside from when hall got kneed. They just seem to be resigned that the season is over And just going through the motions.theres no spark. |

 Thanks
But I think I may be more tact than impact on occasion.
I'd be a pretty conservative GM, and sometimes in hindsight I remind myself of Tambs |

Probably wouldn'tve survived in Nam huh?
But for real, ur probably right. I will say I've noticed abit more edge from Morris these days. Frustration and exasperation at the same ole retorts ' ll do that I guess. But he's as diplomatic as they come. Especially considering the amount abuse oiler fans take.
And I've been known to go off a few times, but I try my best to scale it back. My fuse is abit longer |

Two things between this comment and Ranger-danger's
1. I'm glad cross-town rivals can agree on something besides the Devils need to suck.
2. (frank) Paige, but only metaphorically. She is absolutely terrible. Luna was hotter. Adam French even agrees. - CreepyPasta
