the first time I really questioned Ruff, was the way he handled max the last few years here

I really enjoyed Max . I always found I moved to the edge of my seat at the arena whenever he got the puck . I thought he was really exciting to watch.

Really, really sad.

Wow. Just wow.

I had no idea he was dealing with any issues, physical or monetary.

Darryl has always been a self loathing, feel sorry for himself kind of guy. Darryl never learned how to use his celebrity to build himself up or give himself the ego boost and gratification he needs. Bruce, Jim, Andre, Thurman and many others don't have a problem doing that. If Darryl said, hey I'm going to sign autographs at the Mckinley Mall hundreds would turn out. I'm sure that If he contacted WGR they would give him a weekly segment on Howard Simon. Something to give him purpose. I don't know.

Doesn't seem like he can handle anything physical or mental. At this point, he's 100% disabled.

I'd take a 7th round pick for Hodgson just to get him out of here.

He's mailed it in. Not sure what is going on there with him. If there is a GM out there that wants him, I'd listen. Although we might need his cap hit for a while. Or is he a potential buyout next year?

That was a tough article to read. So many former players having/had issues with life after football.

I find it really strange that he can't find his groove here...at the end of last season he went to the world cup games and was playing really well from the reports. Now he looks completely lost out there...sure, he isn't playing with greatness but he shod at least be able to pot a goal every now and again . He is a real quandry.
I gotta believe he is dealt at the deadline if not before...hoping TO isn't hanging get an unreasonable price tag.on him...at this point getting rid of his salary later in the year would be a major win.

Truth is a lot of guys at 54 years old are beat up physically, mentally and broke. All for different reasons but its not unique to Darryl or just athletes.

While I see the point you're trying to make, I disagree. Are the people in a similar health situation as Talley? Sure. But I wouldn't say a lot.

The part the bothered me the most about the whole thing is how the NFL has handled this type of stuff over the last few years. It seems that a lot of the bad that NFL was good at keeping quiet is slowly starting to surface and there's not much they can do about it but try and make it right. They're not going to be able to sweep it under the rug anymore and pretend it doesn't exist. There's been too much negative press for them in a lot of different areas lately.
