Rinaldo has been playing solid hockey all season. I have zero problems with Rinaldo on the 4th line.

Interesting piece about Hextall being active. Outside of Brayden Schenn and maybe Read I don't see too many pieces that the team would be willing to deal, that are valuable.
Have to figure even a guy like Macdonald would have negative trade value with the contract. Coburn would be hard to replace if dealt.

Well, I thought they were badly outplayed.
Very happy with the point. - Marc D
I'm not saying in the least that Mason wasn't good. He was great! I'm not even saying the Flyers were the better team. Clearly not.
I don't know. I suppose it doesn't help my case that Steve Coates agrees with me |

Agreed
I don't really see any trades out there that will realistically improve the team. |

Get picks for the 2015 draft. Good, deep draft. I'd rather get picks than marginal talent. |

Dreger is a pretty reliable source so it looks like Hexy may do something to shake this team up. I have to admit B Schenn has been playing a lot better lately so it would be interesting to know what Hexy is looking at |

Most trades that are made, come out of the blue, without any rumors behind them. So I'm not sure how any fan can know if there is, or isn't any trades out that could improve the team.

as far as toronto goes, not to rub salt in the wound, but i would absolutely love to acquire JVR. his price would would probably be exorbitant. and id have to think they view him as more of a part of the solution than the problem.
other than that, i cant really think of many parts i would want out of there from either a pens or flyers perspective. |

I'd love to roll the dice on some of the Leafs younger players, if they were willing to move them. Obviously, JvR would be great to re-acquire, anyone would be in favor of that. But guys like Kadri, Gardiner could be attractive as potential future top 6 or top 4 guys |

Dreger really didn't say anything though. He just said Hexy won't hesitate to make the team better if a opportunity to do that arises.
Chevy aside that is basically every GM in the NHL. |

I think Hextall is keeping his ears open and is kicking some tires. But I think he's going to take the approach that his former boss had. Which is not to make a move just to make a move. But make the right move. He knows what this team needs, heck, most fans know what this team needs. But then again as I'm typing this, I'm thinking if the above is true, why did he make the Umberger deal. Conflicted thoughts.

yeah. i figured theyd be looking to hold onto their younger guys in Kadri, Gardiner, and Reilly.
the pens dont need more D prospects, but either of those 2 last names could be interesting to the flyers depending on the cost.
i dont think the pens need a stud winger to be brought in. someone like perron or clarke macarthur would be great. but man, JvR would be tempting if he could be had by dipping into the warchest of assets. |

Yeah, JvR's scoring 30 goals with Tyler Bozak & Kessel. Put him with Malkin & Hornqvist. He'd light it up |

I am glad they are giving Schenn and extended look. No point in trading from an area of weakness as is.
Trades however, for next season anyway would be the way to go if the team wants changes. FA forward class is highlighted by an aging St Louis, Williams, Jagr and Zuccarello who will look to cash in. Even bigger drop to poop after that.
The FA to run at is the season after, with the following names, obviously not all will be around by that time:
Eric Staal, Stamkos, Kopitar, Lucic, O'Reilly, Buff, Kesler, Vrbata, Plekanec, Backes, Ladd, Eriksson, our own Voracek, Perron, Grabner, Okposo, Nielsen, Helm, Abdelkader.
On defense its: Seabrook, Yandle, Brian Campbell, Bieksa, our own Coburn, Hamhuis, EJohnson, Giordano, Gunnarsson, Gilbert.
Point being, that next year is amazing to look at. A lot will be re-signed but definitely not all. Its a crop that the Flyers should look to shed salary for, so they can make the smart and right choice. Dump as much salary that is tied to dead weight as you can until that time. Don't be foolish and just go after the best available "now". |

Gardiner is a typical overrated player by Leaf fans. Yes he can skate but he has zero defensive skills....and that is a player we don't need! |
