Lol. Are the tropical drinks McDavid, Eichel and Hanifin?

You think VLC is tradeable?

I can't see it done unless they package him with a good player and get a lower return then they should.

- Marc D

They would have to eat something salary wise and give something of value to a team near the cap floor or a team needing a power play specialist. I say the same thing over and over, when do players look in the mirror and stop stealing money-he and corpseburger are both on under 35 contracts and can retire. Vinny has a boatload of TBL buyout money coming too for a few more years I think

Once he is paid $2M over the summer, his deal is very favorable for a cap floor team. They'd be paying him about $3M per year while the cap hit is $4.5M. If the Flyers eat another $1M it could work for a small market team. Of course VL would need to waive his NTC as well. Not easy, but easier than trading Umberger and his $4.6M over the next 2 seasons.

Did Akeson get a single shift this season with Couts and Read?

If not, shame on Berube.

I know Akeson was bad this season but he did show some chemistry last year with that line.

Also not using him on the 2nd PP was a fail.

He really only played with Rinaldo, PEB, VL and Umberger. His minutes were usually around 5-7 per game and he never saw any PP time because the 2nd unit was doing such a bang up job.

Can the Flyers just agree to pay him his 2m owed this summer, eat the 1m and move him this season?
Their 2nd PP blows and needs to be totally reworked.

Their 5 v 3 suks also and I think VLC being on it is the reason.

I'd blame last night on the increased levels of tryptophan but turkey gouging isn't until this afternoon.

Everyone have a great Thanksgiving and be sure to be safe if your traveling.

Go Eagles!

I think they pay him his $2M on July 1st or 2nd. After that, they can pay $1M per year of his salary. I don't believe they can pay different amounts each year. I think it needs to be a percentage of his salary over the entire deal. The $2M is just a set bonus payment they agreed to when they signed the contract.

It's a mindset. How many guys have played too long, refusing to call it a career when diminished skills and body breakdowns brought their games down? Are they milking their employers of the money for which they signed, or is it pride?

Are Umberger and Vinny at that point? RJ has never been a stud in the NHL, and I don't know that what's ailing him right now isn't simply in his head, but his play is suffering from something. With Vinny, I just don't know.

Actually, with LeCavalier you have to look back several years to the slash the leagues poster boy for criminal on ice thuggery Matt Cooke put on his arm/wrist as the start of things that downgraded his skills. Getting old and trying to play sucks, I played to about age 60. Imagine being toast as a pro at 32

I dont think this teams style of play and his linemates are the right place for the remainder of his abilities.

I think Umberger has issues and probably should have failed the physical.
We all would rather have the guy who was the PK specialist the last 2 years-Adam Hall at less than 1/4 the price

Flyers just need to revamped everywhere.

1) Berube will have this season but newxt season Babcock should be the target for coach.

2) Flyers need better forwards. Top 9 is brutal atm. Voracek, Giroux, Schenn and Simmonds are the only guys playing well. Coots is struggling but I don't think pulling the plug on him is necesarily the best option due to his age. Really at LW we have no one. Our best Left Wing is a center. Bellmare is just Raffl 2.0. Shows some promise but doesn't deliver. Vinny hasn't played that great since returning from injury, offensively Umberger is useless (which is basically what we expected but the 3rd line needs to be a threat), Akeson has not shown any reason why he should even be on the Roster. Read has been awful. There just isn't any possession in the forwards game. Every game I watch Flyers can't get control in their own end and can't generate a good cycle in in the opponents end.

3) The D isn't the greatest but our issues go beyond that. If we had a possession game the D wouldn't be so exposed. Passing between all players is awful, clearing attempts are awful as well and after being hammered in the D zone for so long coverage is lost leading to an easy goal against.

Voracek Goaltending and Giroux are the only things that the Flyers have going for them. At this point I don't care about Coburn. If Coburn can be put in a package to get T.Hall or some other Good player I'd do that. The D hasn't been any better with him and to be honest you can find vetran guys via FA to help the young guys when they are brought up. Pronger could be the defensive coach by then.
