Did Akeson get a single shift this season with Couts and Read?
If not, shame on Berube.
I know Akeson was bad this season but he did show some chemistry last year with that line.
Also not using him on the 2nd PP was a fail. - Marc D
Yes and No.
Akeson was used last season to replace Steve Downie's role. He was pretty good but I feel it overrated Akeson a lot. I'm all for trying Akeson again where he's had success but his PP time has to be earned. My issue is how long he's been out of the line up and they choose to waive him now. What was Hextall waiting for? |

I dont win anything, we are all suffering.
I drown my sorrow in the lowest level minor league affiliate which has been a bit better, but not much

Hextall and Berube railed about lack of consistency among certain players and the team; Hextall says he wont make a trade for sake of that - opeth_pa
Why not? His head coach has done all he could to keep a player out of the line up the past number of weeks and we're just now waiving him. I think Hextall too slow to make the moves nessassary. |

Raffl to get back from his injury - Jsaquella
Raffl hasn't stopped Berube from producing a 20 man roster. They could have played Akeson over Luke Schenn at anytime. |

Actually, with LeCavalier you have to look back several years to the slash the leagues poster boy for criminal on ice thuggery Matt Cooke put on his arm/wrist as the start of things that downgraded his skills. Getting old and trying to play sucks, I played to about age 60. Imagine being toast as a pro at 32
I dont think this teams style of play and his linemates are the right place for the remainder of his abilities.
I think Umberger has issues and probably should have failed the physical.
We all would rather have the guy who was the PK specialist the last 2 years-Adam Hall at less than 1/4 the price - Steelmanpa
I just feel trading Hartnell for Umberger didn't move negative than positive for this team. If you keep Hartnell, he continues to produce and ups his value to far more than we got in return. I'm saying this after the fact but I knew this at the time too. Hartnell had value. |

Sure but Raffl returns, Vandevelde is out. It's virtually the same situation. |

I really do not like Vandevelde. I'm hoping the Flyers are kicking tires on Nolan or Stewart. I'm within the camp that believes that we need a more physical team. |

They do need a more physical team. Not a fan of Stewart, definitely like Nolan. VandeVelde is a fringe guy. |

I like Stewart, I think he can be a more offensive player on a more offensively talented team. Even if I'm wrong, I worry about the money he could make for doing what he's doing now. |

He's making $4.15mm that's too much for the Flyers to take on, unless they dump Vinny or Umberger.
He's had one 20 goal season and that was awhile ago |

Yeah, I guess. Honestly, while I didn't expect a lot. I did expect that the least they would get a 3rd/4th line tweener who would put up 12-14 goals and 25-32 points for 2 seasons (I always figured they'd buy out the last year). To me, that was a better overall option than 5 years of an aging Hartnell at 4.75 million per.
However, since RJ Umberger has failed in even this most modest task, and instead has played like a total piece of (frank)ing poop each and every game this season, than yeah, it was a bad friggin trade.
However, even with Hartnell instead of the corpse, they are a bubble team at best. I'd rather that they out and out suck than be a bubble team, especially in this draft year. The way they are playing, they may well be looking at picking between 4-7 and that, at least, would be very nice. |

To be fair it was a high 20 goal season and he's played for the Blues, Aves and Sabers who have lacked offense within those times.
If we can't get Stewart, I just don't want the Pens to get him. |

I love Simmonds. I thought he was great last night but I don't think these types of guys in Hartnell, Stewart and Simmonds can lead an offense.
Just keep Stewart out of the hands of the Penguins!!! |

Yeah, I want no part of Stewart, especially at that cap hit. I would like to see a vet with high price tag moved for pick(s) as well. I have no problem with a hockey trade that brings in young low cost talent either.
It'll have to be a dman, as none of the high $$$ vet forwards have any value. Move Coburn to a contender at the deadline, they will get at least a 1st, best case a 1st and either a 2nd and a good prospect, likely it'll be a 1st and either a 3rd in '16 or a 2nd tier prospect. Also move Grossmann at the deadline, some panicking GM will give you a 2nd and a 4th in 16 for him.
Go into the draft with a top 7 pick, a late 1st, a late 2nd, a3rd and 2 4ths and I'm feeling better |

I'd be shocked if we could get Coburn for a first but if some dimwitted GM is willing to do so, do it.
The season isn't over yet. We could make a deal that puts us over the top.
