I think management will put a genuine effort towards building a competitive team, there's a chance they'll still be too young/inexperienced.
Also probably depends on who's available in the off-season. If the best player available to them is a borderline 2nd liner... |

It looks like the cap will stay at $70M next year. Reaching the floor shouldn't be too difficult. |

Like TM said last year, it's not hard to spend money. |

My guess is that they will sign at least 1 d-man and 1 forward next summer. It'll still be a young and inexperienced team. |

Tank over, though. They'll try to recreate Avs 2013-14. |

Agreed schultzie, they start to turn the corner next year. McDavid will look good in blue and gold on opening night.

Who's available to them in FA this summer, IMO depends on:
- 2015 Draft, with the Isles and Blues picks likely in the mid20's if they keep playing the way they are (we can debate if that will happen for the Isles, now the Blues with goaltending issues) ... Will GMTM be able to create a package to move up ..or deal for a top end, top 6 prospect.
- Coaching staff, I'm not convinced Ted will gone next year...but, I also don't see him being the guy with a highly skilled team either...if they can Ted and are lucky enough to attract a top flight Coach ...
Those 2 together would make Buffalo very appealing to the higher-end UFA's willing to wait 2 - e years and then be in contention for years after that. |

If they get McEichel, no. If not yes, without even trying to tank.

Once McEichel gets here the franchise needs to do an immediate about face. No more hanging on to players for sentimental value. No more keeping Kaleta because he's the local guy and plays with grit. Does he put pucks in the net? No, bye bye. Delaurias does and is bigger and grittier. Foligno should be on a real short leash. Hodgson never should have gotten a contract, period. Admit defeat and walk away. |

Agreed, but i'm not too worried about UFA. Very rarely see high end talent in free agency and it seems like you can peak most players interest with enough term/money.
My biggest concern is who's available via trade. And beyond that, of the players available who are worth paying a big price for, how many would be willing to (if applicable) waive there NTC/NMC to come here or sign an extension?
I think you're right about coaching though, Teddy's probably the guy for next year unless they know they've got a real shot at a top flight coach (i.e babcock) |

I'm just excited about the competition within the organization going forward. Especially if they draft top 2.
Armia, Grigorenko, McCabe, Pysyk, Schaller, Larsson, Reinhart, McDavid all could be candidates for roster spots.
I also think we will see 1 or 2 trades for NHL players. |

I agree, but we can't keep shooting ourselves in the foot with old style Sabres thinking. It all gets undermined when you carry dead weight all over your roster. Can't do that and be a championship team. |

Agreed. I don't think there are many players that fit that bill.
Kaleta, Stafford, Stewart, Hodgson and Weber off the top of my head.
The only difficult one would be Hodgson. |

Is it wrong that I made a parody in my head of the "No More" commercials the NFL has been running for domestic violence? |

No, it's very right.
Connor McDavid "No more, we have two top 20 centers."
Zemgus Girgensons "No more, we need John Scott"
Tyler Myers "No more, giving Henrik Tallinder credit for my improved play"
Rasmus Ristolainen "No more, giving Mike Weber ice time over me"
Tyler Ennis "No more, comparing me to Afinogenov"

When Jeff Blashill gets his NHL contract, remember "Kaiser called it". And GMTM should be burning up the phone lines to Grand Rapids and Detroit to make it happen.
Blashill would be perfect for us next year when we switch from honoring the legacy through teddy and move into building the future w the Youngins |
