I agree.. people who think he's going to make massive changes obviously didn't see how LA was built. Solid picks that weren't rushed to the show and then when the window to win was open, supplement with some veterans at the cost of some of your surplus youth.

The worst thing Hextall could do, is make a reactionary trade due to how the Flyers are currently playing. He should make deal from the viewpoint of even if the team was winning and high up in the standings, would he still make a proposed deal. If the answer is yes, then make it. Otherwise, stand pat.

The worst trades you can make are those born out of desperation, I think we all agree on that. But I think everyone knows Berube isn't the coach of the future for this franchise. If I was Hextall I would bring Guy Boucher in here. Berube's stubborn as a mule. The last game we saw VLC and Umberger's ice time diminished, should it really take a quarter of a season to make that adjustment?

As it should be, they can't make a deal unless it makes sense long term. The "make a fast deal to right the ship now" mindset needs to stay far away.

I don't know if this team is underperforming. Some players are, some are not. My expectations were not as high as some. But I'm far more concerned about the future than squeaking into the playoffs now & getting erased in 5 games

You know what my biggest worry for the team is? We've got some key pieces in their prime (G, Jake, Mase) and I just hope they don't decline too much if it takes say 5 years to craft a Championship level D.. there seems to be a timing mismatch.
