i really think moving the first 2 is a pretty tall order, to state the obvious.
read, his play is puzzling right now, but id be lying if i said i didnt still really want him. maybe its just my bias, but i dont think hed be difficult to move at all, depending on what you wished in the return. - stayinthefnnet
I will be straight pissed if they even pretend like they're not going to buy out Umberger -- that's a (frank)ing joke if they don't
Lecavalier is, as you say and is true, harder to deal with. But you can scratch him. You just have to have the balls to do it
You can carry 14 forwards, 7 defensemen and the two goalies -- Lecavalier and Rinaldo can be the those forwards
Just gotta have the balls to move forward

Didn't see the game, but I saw he took two penalties today. Don't know if they were good ones or not. But Rinaldo is one of the last players I would choose to sit out. - MJL
I have said before that I admire how hard Rinaldo works -- I credit him for that, and for carving himself an NHL career
But I do not believe he is a player who should be in the lineup for 82 games a season

On his first penalty he was slashed by Dom Moore. They both locked up and pushed each other, then Rinaldo pushed him in the face last and the ref only called the last shot. I've seen this happen a lot but I've also seen them call both players for roughing on that.
Zac has to walk away and not take the last shot, it's too risky for him.
The 2nd penalty he hit a Ranger way late after the puck was shot and it was just dumb. |

The guy has played hard, brought it physically, played well defensively. Has even made some nice passing plays lately. I have no problems with Rinaldo. Least of my worries on this team. With all the other players that are struggling. It's mind boggling that Rinaldo is even being discussed. |

I know your right. But when the Flyers had an effective forecheck going in the first period. The forwards were doing good work. The puck gets back to the point and nothing happens except a wild wide shot or one thats blocked. I'm getting tired of it. Mark Streit is our top Dman by a mile and I remember making fun of the isles because he was theirs while we were stomping them. It's just the way it is. You can't polish these turds! - Just5
I do agree, I've been on the fence in regards to Streit, he has played better at times, and then poorly like today.
They touched on the amount of blocked shots from slot area, there were several, made Talbot,s game pretty easy.
I don't see the GM doing nothing about this, as long as Ed is watching. |

Whichever; buy one out, scratch the other
I understand that they are limited in what they can do during this season
I expect this poop to be handled before next season

Well duh, that is what he has done wrong this season..
We can't have a team with any physical players because you know, it's the modern NHL and blah blah blah..
Need more guys that dont really do anything tbh. |

How is he not using Rinaldo effectively? - MJL
Too many minutes in key times of the game. Berube if he is losing by 3 goals still roles 4 lines same as if he was winning. Rinaldo can be good on nights he hits and creates energy but is he going to help get 3 goals back? No. Most coaches would play their best offensive players more when trailing. Double shift to get away from match ups... Not Berube. |

They could; Lecavalier's buyout is a lot uglier than Umberger's, but you're eating cash either way
Sometimes, you have to approach it as losing deadweight on the roster is more important than having dead cash on the cap
Whatever money you save on the cap, however small it is, is better than having players who clearly cannot play on the roster -- right now, the Flyers have $8.1 million doing absolutely nothing for this team |

Rinaldo is their best open ice hitter and he brings energy when he does that but he has to stay away from shoving matches way behind the play and not take the stupid penalties otherwise he is detracting from the team. Especially when their PK is so awful.
He is far far away from being what is wrong with the team though. |

Didn't see the game, but the reports don't sound great, and obviously the score says it all. But tomorrow is it. If they don't come out pissed off, as if their life depends on winning the game, then they're a dead team. Because if they can't, then, some kind of change needs to be made. And there's one change that is always made first. - MJL
After the team meeting on Wednesday, you'd think that's how they would have come out today. They didn't. Rock bottom is still a few feet away, down there with the Titanic and Jack Dawson somewhere. |

I think you need to pay closer attention. In the last game against Detroit he was double shifting two lines. Listening on the radio, at times in the game today he double shifted the Laughton line.
Just looking at the shift charts for the games, shows how incorrect you are on this. Giroux is leading the NHL in time on ice per game for forwards. |

C$ dropped big time today, nearly $.0075. And it will continue to drop as long as the oil prices fall. Cap next year is going down. Flyers have big troubles next year. They have to move players not named LaCavalier, Luke Schenn and Umberger just to get to opening day. |

$4.6 plus $4.5 / $9 million, I agree it would be a start, but buying out Umberger would be similar to Homer trading Luke, admitting he screwed up.

I'm not even bothering trying to figure out anymore why people are focused on a 4th line player as a top problem when their are so many other issues with this team.
I am now just on board with getting rid of Rinaldo , how dare he play a physical game, which will save the season. |

It's a ridiculous premise to state that Berube doesn't have the balls to scratch Umberger. He may not choose to, but it's not because he doesn't have the balls. Let's be real here.
