Agreed!
At least 2 forwards that can skate, the basics.

Do you think the Flyers should bring up any young player who aren't NHL ready, and play them in the current situation that the team is in?

You bring up only one at a time, see how they adjust. If they play well enough, they stay. If they don't, they go back down and work on the things they need to work on

And it may be that none of what you have can make that adjustment

But it simply isn't crushing Cousins' future to get a few games, or Alderson, or Straka -- you're only taking a look because they can't be worse than Umberger/Lecavalier, take your pick

Hahaha... There would be five rookies on this team if I had my way in the preseason.

That would be a ridiculously bad trade for the Flyers.

It's what they do best, make ridiculously bad trades.

I thought the Canadian dollar was propped up by Harp seals, mounty hats and Quebecois arrogance?

No it was extremely strong against the American dollar when the American economy went in the toilet....now that the US economy has turned, the value of cnd $ has diminished....besides travel and the NHL salary cap the 90 cent cnd dollar is good for us....it provides more investment ....and a strong US green back is good for the world economy.....although it does hurt the salary cap growth.

You don't bring up players like that, if they aren't ready into this situation. All Summer it was discussed about being patient, and not rushing players. Why would you want to put a young player into this situation? Worst thing that they could do. Is there another player down there that can do what Laughton is doing, then fine, bring him up. But not players that aren't ready.

Everyone said Laughton wasn't ready and yet he's been one of the most consistent forwards of late....salary cap wise it may be tough to do much.

They said he wasn't ready in the beginning of the season. And he didn't look ready in the pre season. Some players need just a little AHL time, just like Giroux did.

Ha! I hear you -- I understand that some guys need more time developing, but here's the thing:

If Brandon Alderson can't do what R.J. Umberger is currently doing -- not what Umberger has done, but is currently -- then you need to know that.

If Alderson can do what Umberger is doing, then he has the opportunity, because of his age, to continue to improve as he sees the pace of the NHL.

What you're saying, and I'm saying, is no different than when Tampa brought up Tyler Johnson and Alex Killorn and Ondrej Palat and Richard Panik, all at once

Panik didn't make it. After a rough year, Johnson, Killorn and Palat figured it out

Gotta give the young players a chance to figure it out

You know what you Rinaldo haters are right..we need more soft players that dont hit or play physical. As I said in my last post, get rid of him right now and The Black Holes will all of the sudden do something useful.

God, how could they get ride of Akegretzky when he is just what we need.

- opeth_pa

Rinaldo is far from the biggest problem, but his repeated minor penalties to a team that can't kill penalties is a problem. His physical play is great, but he can't keep putting the team down a man.

You can, if you choose to do so -- and it works for some players and not others

There's no math to it. There's no science to it. Some guys will make it and some guys won't

Simple.... If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem. If anyone thinks Zac Rinaldo is a cog in a winning team, they need to have their friggin head examined.

I love when people post this clip and ignore the fact that the puck hit an opposing players skate which may have contributed to it being a perfect centering pass.

Not saying that is what PLindbergh31 was implying though.

He continues to impress, but he had a couple of poor plays today. Still more positive than negative, even on a bad day like today.

Have to put each player in the best position giving them the best chance to figure it out. Just because that worked for Killorn and was the right decision for him, doesn't mean it's the right decision for Alderson. There's no blanket formula.

Made a mistake on the PK. But I love the kids skating, hustle, competitiveness, and his pressure on the puck. He's going to be a player.

Yah..lets focus on him and not the Black holes on lines 2-3!
I agree, cut him..clearly the problem.

I agree, then why bring up what the Lightning did, as if that is the correct formula for every player? Each is an individual and should be developed as an individual.

So maybe ....just maybe some others may get a chance....like you said....some just need a bit of time in the AHL....just like Giroux and Laughton.
