This is a great post
Thanks for taking the time to write this out
I guess the best thing right now is to take the long term perspective
But I watch every night too and seasons like this and likely next are pretty (frank)ing hard to take - Marc D

Worst helmet head of hair ever. That said, I'd take him. I'm pretty high on Guy Boucher. I would have fired Berube in between periods today. That was an embarrassment. |

Not going to get mad, most here saw at best a "okay" season to missing the playoffs. |

This is such a bad team. The Defense is what it is, but my god I didn't think street and amac, and grossman would be this bad. When this team plays physical it generates scoring chances. I don't know why they don't do this on a consistent basis, but whoever is at fault (coaches or players) need to go ASAP. Laughton is the future captain of this team. Why he wasn't up last year is unbelievable, and we sent Ghost back after he looked great, and now he has a torn mcl. Read needs to be traded, bc he will bring a decent return. Both Schenns can go as well - CACannon18

You hit just about all the 610 hockey points..
1. Streit has not been bad at all. 5 in points (4 goals + 9 assists) on the team, +3 on a bad defensive team
2. The team doesnt play physical so not sure what you have watched.
3. Laughton was not ready last year but you keep believing he is the next captain after 10 games.
4. Ghost didn't look great prior to being sent back nor does he have an MCL tear.
5. Read will get you an an average return, the golden child would get you a better return.
6. B Schenn is tied for 2 in goals and tied for 3 in points on the team and should not be moved. L Schenn on the other hand.. |

Major changes have to happen IMO. None of it should include our young players. There has to be light.
If the deal is still on the table from EDM, 2 2nd's for Coburn. Take it and run with it. I worry how much will see highly effective mean Coburn now that he's in his 30's
Buyout Vinny and RJ this summer, no one is taking their contracts. Thats just under 4.5 mil in dead money on the cap. WHO CARES. Vinny is 4.5 in negative weight playing anyway. There is just nothing we can do with these guys.
I would also look to move L. Schenn for a 2nd or a 3rd or a forward prospect. - Just5
have to hold onto coburn right now, but for (frank)s sakes scratch vlc and umberger play someone, anyone else. |

I thought fringe playoff team, middle of the pack team. Didn't think they would be an NHL bottom feeder 1/4 of the way through the season. If they are going to miss the playoffs, do it spectacularly. A top 5 pick would be awesome. Even though there is supposed to be a significant drop off after the top 2. |

Not sure anybody thought bottom feeder, but should it happen to end that way they'd have a chance and a good draft pick. |

My nightmare right now is that they go 100% of the rails, worst record in the league, and some how get JVR'd into the 3 pick... |

I don't think it's possible to have a worse record than Buffalo. And I would be shocked if they had a worse record than Edmonton as well. But I hear what you are saying, they would never have the luck to win the draft lottery. How much of a drop off is there from McDavid to Eichel? |

ill readily admit that all things considered, mark streit has most certainly been earning his paycheck for you guys this year. other than del zotto, he is the only one from the back end who can bring it up himself. he is vital to the powerplay, which is still pretty good despite the rest of the teams struggles. even 5 on 5, he has been more of an asset than a liability in his own end.
if you were to move read, what would you realistically be expecting to get? i agree that it probably wouldnt be as much as couturier could return.

You know what will happen....they will catch fire in january-february when the schedule softens and grab that 7 seed, we will promptly get swept out by Tampa. We will trade L. Schenn for an AHL goalie bc Zepp wants to go back to Europe, no other trades will be made because "hey everyones got a shot just have to make it in"
We've read this same old story before |

More like they will go something like 7-1-2 in the final 10 games of the season once they are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
I would never snub my nose at making the playoffs, once you are in the tournament anything can happen. Teams can't get hot and ride momentum or a hot goalie. |

I will. Majority of the teams make the playoffs. It's not a big accomplishment like the NFL or MLB, imo. |

No, not a huge accomplishment, but in order to win a Championship, step 1 is making the playoffs. |
