I don't think Carolina is awful. They were playing most of the games early in the season without both Staal's and Skinner. - PLindbergh31
in a seven game series, do you really think carolina beats the flyers out? |

Can't wait till they get back
The tank is in full effect now with our Dmen 100%. General Coburn and Captain AMac guiding this convoy - Just5
Eric Staal and Skinner are back now. Just waiting on Jordan. My god was MacDonald awful tonight. Every time I looked at the TV he was turning the puck over. |

And Carolina beat the Pigeons today! Edmonton just secured at least one point in St. Louis. I'm starting to get aboard!!!

Nah. Today's game made me sick. After they lose tomorrow, would guess something will happen. Not sure what. Can't lose 8 out of 9 and go about business status quo with the same trainwreck. - PLindbergh31
i suspect a coaching change, as snider said about firing Bill Barber, cant trade all the players, and they dont seem to be responding. |

Not a good game from him
Not sure what it was; Rags are fast and pretty disciplined, but their system isn't meant to disrupt like it was today

I wouldn't fire Berube without sending Umberger down and scratching VLC first
I'm dead serious -- no way I give the coach the prison-yard shank without moving guys off the roster and/or scratching them
Seriously. Think about it. That'd be the second coach they've quit on in a year
(frank) that, giving them another one without them paying a price

I agree, not saying its the solution, but the "tank" is fantasyland, every "tanking" team had either ownership, $$$, issues, relocation rumors, steel mill closures, waiting on a Rexall hair guy owner, etc etc.
There are no capped to the max, angry "want to win now" 81 year old team owned teams, with lots of $$$$, tanking. |

There's a new GM, no one knows if this is his guy of choice or not.
I agree that its the easy way out for the players, but its not a firing by the same GM from the past 10 years. |

i like that attitude. i understand a coach loses the room every now and again. everyone has an expiration date. but you guys are (frank)ing professionals. you dont just get to give up on the coach repeatedly whenever you are so inclined. |

What gives you that idea? Seriously though. It's hard to watch.
As the astute poster Tomahawk posted earlier, what happens when Giroux and Voracek go into a slump? |

Should come by more often
Wish I was had a little more spirit, but this stretch of games has punished me to the core - AllInForFlyers
really the natural evolution, or really, devolution from the homer regime. out of bold gambles, compliance buyouts, cap space and now, short on talent, while having no real plan other than "winning", it was only a matter of time before they had to pay up.
only concern now is whether the "vision" hexy speaks of can be realized before the fwd core starts turning the other way. dmen take a long time and unless the Canandian dollar improves, cap space will remain at a premium. it's really squeezing them cause there are so many bad contracts.
welp, hexy's got his "dream job" so...

i have a hard time buying carolina. at this point in their careers, mason is probably more reliable than ward.
he definitely displays the ability to outright steal a game more than ward.
both Ds are pretty messy. sekera is pretty similar to coburn.
ill take the flyers forward ranks over the canes. |

Right now Columbus is dead last in the NHL. Imagine if they still had Umberger? They may have locked up McDavid by now. |

See, that's where I don't know/understand what Hextall did all last year
Was he onboard with Chief, or not? Was he onboard with MacDonald, or not?
If he was, that's fine -- I don't necessarily think that it's wrong to disagree with your boss, if you didn't mind what he's doing
But if he wasn't onboard, then don't be shy about fixing this poop

It will take a good 4-5 years before they are true contenders, G and Jake will be in their early 30's. They should be just fine as players at that age.
Just have to be patient with all this. It's hard to do when we have to watch Umberger and Vinny on a game to game basis. That is (frank)ing frustrating.
I can have fun with a young team that isn't the best |

RJ's prob a buyout after the season, so the ~ $925 in relief could come in handy. he's certainly plyng like an AHLer.
Chief has lost me a little w/ the double stds he shown. like PEB is a prob and gets less ice time than zac who took 2 stupid penalties. that's just one example, but right now, excepting that the D is not fixable, they need another 2 way fwd here to provide quality depth and work PK. |

columbus would probably be better of sucking. however, i can see them making a run.
they caught a bad break with the horton signing. Jack johnson is a good soldier and will play a ton for him, but he has a ton of warts as a number one defenseman.
that being said, i think columbus has finally righted the ship, and i think they will be pesky in the not so distant future, and for a good amount of time.
they have johansen already. thats a HUGE piece of the puzzle. i really dont think you can go very far in today's game without a number one center. if ryan murray pans out to be at least decent, that will be huge too. they already have guys like boone jenner in their ranks, which provide that yeoman attitude and grit. (which is something that edmonton has yet to really add to their rebuilding cauldron). Bobrovsky has a good chance at remaining a good goalie too. |

Not sure where he is on "the chief", but I don't see him hanging on if the slide continues, this is an organization that hasn't won the cup, (lately), but prides itself in being competitive year in & year out.
I understand his patience virtue, but I don't think he intends to watch this team be a doormat in the process.
Holmgren made careless trades, (throwing assets around like potato chips), I don't see Hextall doing things in the same manner, but watching them get slapped every night? I don't see that as an option either. |

as long as there is a clear direction, this fan base can handle them implementing a plan that will give them an extended window to challenge. so it's 'have faith in hexy' time. |

I think the ship hit a slight detour today. They lost at home to Vancouver 5-0
