Fighting for a teammate 0:18 into the game is not something a guy does if he hasn't bought in. That's the kind of thing I want, and the team needs, when the youngins come up.

I say re-sign him.

So if you're not tough as a defenseman, you're not a good defenseman?

I am not comparing him, but was Lidstrom tough? How about physical? He was just a great D.

A defenseman doesn't have to play like Chara to be effective.

Funny thing is if the NHL was like it was the couple of years after the lockout, Chara would not be looked at the same way he is now as he was skated around routinely back then. He didn't suddenly get faster or learn to skate better. The game changed and it helped him a lot.

So you have to be tough to be a good defenseman ? Orr only fought a few times in his career . Did Lidstrom ever fight ? I do not recall Ray Bourque or Paul Coffey being scrappers either . All great defense men . Chara has won the Norris once and he is how we define a great defenseman. Good to know.

They played a good game but we also let them plus johnson has been far from a reliable goaltender for us. All four he let in were bad goals. Caps have some talent but im not sure if trotz is the right fit there?
