My cat just puked after giving her the late afternoon meal.
That mess was more acceptable and easier to clean up than this team
At least the cat gives us love and enjoyment, this Flyers team just makes us puke.
Hmmm, I wonder if she saw part of the game too....... |

scouting how to finish last place - Winning
Good thing they were there in person. We can trade them Laughton like he's Lindros. |

Did they confirm that it wasn't due to injury/rest? Because it not, Chief gets mad credit for that. Dude has been terrible. - Tomahawk
Yes, if it was a healthy scratch, he gets a huge bit of credit.
If it was as easy as simply firing Berube, I'd be all for it. I've repeatedly said I wouldn't fire him now, because he's not the only issue. But it's idiotic to not blame him for the things he can control. |

Lindros wouldn't be enough for all 10 games of Laughton or whatever it's been because you know he has more talent then Giroux and Voracek..just take the numbers off their jerseys and you will see that. |

Leagues worst PK though. At some point that comes back on the coaching staff. |

Don't know. I disagree that he's been terrible. No worse then Coburn or Del Zotto have been. The truth of the matter is that other then Giroux, Grossmann, Voracek, Rinaldo, and possibly B Schenn. Every skater on this team deserves to sit a game in the press box. When a team is this bad, that's the way it is.

The problem is that the issues that he's criticized for, that he can control, are subjective.

Yeah, this thing is definitely not one or two fixes away from getting back on track... there are about a dozen or so major issues that need to be addressed, and Berube is just one of them. I'm totally willing to keep him behind the bench until the summer... but if he's still the coach next season, I might have to burn the WFC down. |

I don't think a coach can be blamed for not winning puck battles, and bearing down on the puck when there is a chance to clear the puck. On the PP goal by Brassard, Coburn had the puck and a chance to clear it.

How did coburn look today? He's our only chance for a decent return in a trade. Wonder if oilers would still pony up 2 seconds |

Part of it is on the coaching staff, for who they choose to use on it, but a lot of the damage has come while using their "best" PK players, i.e. Couturier, Read, Coburn & Grossmann.
But when you keep using guys like Umberger and Rinaldo, yeah that's a decision you can control as a head coach |

No reason for him not to use Umberger and Rinaldo on the PK. Again, there is a lack of objectivity here. Just because you think he shouldn't use them, doesn't mean that it's a mistake by the coach.

That's like selling your car for 50 cents on the dollar. Bad deal there. One recent trade deadline, the Pens gave up two 2nd round picks for a washed up Douglas Murray.

I just trolled on over to the EDM blog and one of them posted a lineup for their team next year. Hanzal and mcdavid were their 1-2 centers
The trolling wars for mcdavid are going to get ugly!! |

He needs to put the players he has, even if it's a bad roster, in the best spot to have success. He's not doing that. He's had some decent line combos, but some of his decisions are baffling.
Selective accountability, rewarding "effort" to the detriment of the team's ability to play effective hockey, puzzling decisions in terms of ice time and which players he takes pokes at in the media (criticism of a guy like Bellemare, while refusing to name Lecavalier & Umberger). It adds up to a guy who hasn't been effective. |

Vinny had 5+ minutes of ice time today. Umberger and Vinny had two of the lowest TOI the last two games before today, where Umberger's went up while Vinny's went way down.
Really, Berube is screwed either way with this roster. There's dead weight, there's AHL guys giving effort and not being rewarded on the scoresheet, and then there's players who were pretty good last year but have caught the suck virus. |

So how do you convince someone to take vinny if all you do is play him 6 minutes a game and with guys like rinaldo? |

It puts Hexy in a tough spot, that's for sure. |
