Kuemper is solid, when he shut-out teams in beginning of season no one complained so maybe the team needs to play better at defense???? |

Have you seen some of the soft goals he has given up? Yes, the defense has hung him out to dry at times, but overall, Kuemper needs to work on tightening up his mechanics and maintaining at least a semblance of consistency. He is quickly turning into Backstrom; great one game, lousy the next. |

Unfortunately softies happen occasionally but I don't get the chance to watch enough of Kuemper to really see what the issue could be.... thanks........... |

They do, but with him they seem to happen more often. That could be my bias towards him, as I'm not as high on him. He could still develop into a true #1 but he seems to get rattled easily and has quite a bit of room for improvement. |

Scandella re-signs 5yrs/$20mil

Does that leave enough for both? Obviously the team will keep granlund, but will you still have enough for Haula? If so, that's some good work by fletcher. |

I think Granlund and his agent have both come out and expressed a desire to sign a bridge deal, so I can't imagine that being too significant... especially if he continues to have a solid but not great season this year. Haula is a 4th line center who has shown little of what got us all so excited about during last years playoffs. It shouldn't take much to retain him.
The Wild should have about $9 mil to re-sign Granlund, Haula and Carter, if they choose to. |

Granlund better get going if he is looking to cash in on a mega deal. Wild winning that stand off right now. Same with Haula. |

Yep, the production from our centers has been atrocious so far. Fletch has done a great job of drafting and locking up the kids to team friendly deals but he could really help this team out by bringing in a #1/2 centerman. |

It's discouraging to see a team play so passively with the lead, time and time again. And to make matters worse, nearly the entire OT period was spent in the Wild's zone.
Line combos continue to make little sense, too many players standing around/being beaten by opposing players to the puck, and far too many long passes that are intercepted 75% of the time.
Would love to see how different this team would play under a real coach. |

Do you guys think the Shattenkirk cross check deserved 5 and a game? I only saw one replay as I am out of town but it looked like a cross check gone wrong with a result a lot worse than the foul to me. Sometimes really bad hits get lucky and don't get bad results. This looked like a bad decision that went a lot worse than it normally would have gone.
The Steen hit right before it almost looked worse.
Sucks that this hit is likely going to change my W to an L in fantasy hockey.

On that play it was a scary result and obviously Shattenkirk regretted the cross check immediately. That play was like a slow moving car crash. Deserved the gate but doubt any other discipline will occur. |

The 2 refs I saw on the television didn't even raise an arm to call a penalty when it happened. It wasn't until after Carter was down on the ice for a few moments until I finally saw the arm go up... what a crock of poop call that was. Sure, Shatty should probably have refrained from cross-checking a guy in his numbers, but I don't see how that fall hurt Carter one bit. Probably just a good acting job by him.
I like the skill on the Blues, but often times they seem more interested in throwing their bodies around and going out of their way to make a hit than they are in making a play on the puck. |

I saw the same thing on the replay. Almost wondered if it was a dive done wrong.
It's one thing to have a heavy forecheck that is opportunistic. It's another thing to run around looking for a hit and taking yourself out of the play. They do way too much of the latter imho but I think a big part of that is Hitch. I've been saying this for years.
When they swarm the forecheck, they can be great. When they force the hits, they get odd man rushes the other way and dumb penalties. |

The Scandella hit was a lot more reckless and dangerous imho.
If the NHL really wants to get rid of some of this stuff, make certain penalties mandatory double minors served at the same time (automatic 5 on 3) with an automatic 10 minute misconduct with referee discretion to super size it to a 5 minute major and a game misconduct.

No reason to rush Dumba. 20 year old defenseman rarley make an impact. He might not reach his potential for another 5-6 years so just baby the kid for now and let him learn at a steady pace. |
